Chapter 3

My parents had no business messing with my life, but unfortunately, I had to listen to them. Don't ask why. They are terrifying sometimes. I got hold of Elizabeth with the number my parents gave me. I am sitting at Cafe' Cafe' waiting for her. You are probably wondering why I am bringing a girl I am trying to court (no one says that anymore) to a place called Cafe' Cafe'. Its because I honestly just want her to hate me. It never took me long to get ready, I could care less what Elizabeth thought of me. I want her to look at me. See that I am not good enough and then just disappear. I guess that explains why I am early.

"Dude, is that you? Out in public? Are you don't rotting in your office? Am I dreaming?"

Oh, how wonderful.

"How many times must I ask you not to call me 'Dude' Matthew. I know we are friends but really? Also, I was not rotting simply fermenting."

"Yeah, because that makes it sound so much better. So what brings YOU, Mr. Blue Cheese, to a place like Cafe' Cafe'?"

"I would rather not talk about it. Especially not too you, you would laugh. I would talk to Oliver though if I had the choice between you two. Now please, I am expecting..."

"Dude, you're pregnant?"

I have honestly never understood his idiocy, though maybe it's more like creative stupidity. Either way, right now, it's annoying me.

"NO MATTHEW. I am meeting someone here and in the nicest words possible... GO AWAY!"

And he walked away with the same mischievous smirk that's always playing on his lips. He really enjoys pissing me off.

I turned my head and I saw an absolutely beautiful girl. Golden long hair, like Cori's. Green-blue eyes, like Coris. She looked like Cori but it just wasn't her. Too close for comfort though. Beautiful none the less. That's when I noticed the girl walking straight towards me.

"Hi, I'm Elizabeth. You can call me Lizzie though. You are William, right?"

Elizabeth. Cori. This is not happening. My parents can go to hell.

"Listen, you seem sweet and all, but I have to go"

"Tell me what happened Will"

So, I told him. I told him everything. He wasn't just my psychologist after all, he was my friend.

"Off the record. Your parents have a problem. It's kinda sick, Mate. I can't imagine. Jeez.

"You think I don't know Oliver. You're my psychologist, you are supposed to help me, not tell me what I already know. So quit being Oliver and start being Dr. Dalton."

"You know, you need to stop taking out your frustrations on other people. Matthew may have a death wish, but frankly, I don't. I thought that you knew that we were not just doctor and patient. So quit the attitude."

I guess he is right, I have been rather selfish and unkind to him and maybe also Matthew. Although it's not my fault. Oh, who am I kidding it is. I just need time.

"Yeah, sorry Oliver. It's just a lot..."

Speak of the devil.

"Dude, it's the 3 musketeers back together again."

You must have guessed already, it's Matthew. Probably been eavesdropping. I do owe him an apology.

"You know Matthew, I'm sorry for being such a douche lately."

"Uh uh uh. Darling William. Not just a douche. Repeat after me... I, William Louw, apologize to Matthew Alexander Holt, for being an unreasonable, self-centered Douche."

I looked at Oliver for help, only to see him holding back what I presume to be fits of pure laughter. He was failing hugely. So, I said the words Matthew so desperately wanted to hear. I owed him that much. Oliver and Matthew have been my friends since childhood. Our parents were friends and it just happened after countless numbers of parties and charity events.

There was this one time after we watched Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone, which I was a huge fan of, that they convinced me to run through the wall at Kingscross Station, telling me that it would take me to Hogwarts. Hogwash! I carried my legs as fast as I could and I needed stitches at that point and probably new friends. My nose was bloody and broken and the worst part is that the doctors told me that Hogwarts wasn't real. Childish but I loved the thought that there was a world filled with magic and creatures that I could have only dreamed of. Oliver and Matthew had a wonderful laugh and they obviously knew magic wasn't real. Now that I think about it, why are we still friends?

Another funny memory was the 1st year of college. Matthew kept bunking classes to meet up with girls. It was the time he bunked to meet Hannah Davids that things went out of control. She was fine, damn, but not as fine as Cori. Yeah, so, Ol and I were driving to the apartment that we shared when we got a phone call from the local police station. Matthew needed bail for breaking into the local swimming pool and putting red food coloring into the water. Apparently, Hannah dared him too and then called the cops on him. Brilliant girl. It was hilarious, oh the good old days. I feel old just saying that.

"So Dude. Since you're no Mr 'GO AWAY' anymore, wanna hang out and play PlayStation and eat tons of pizza?"

"We don't usually have time because we work now. If you never noticed William is the CEO of Louw Enterprises, you know, the company that pays your salary and makes you rich. Also, I have work to do, I had a patient before you barged in here. Do come back when you finally realize that you need a psychologist."

"Yeah, Bye. Enjoy your squint session William"

"See you tonight Matt. Where are we meeting..."

He was gone already and with him went a little light. I remember why I am still friends with them. They are always here for me and best of all. They make me laugh 90% of the time. The other 10% is them making me want to kill myself.
