Emily frantically explained the strange situation she was randomly placed in over the phone, Benji found it difficult to A. believe her and B. hear her through the deafening background. "Em, it's fine, i'll be there in a second but I swear to god if you're pulling a stupid prank on me."
"I'm not, I swear to god..Just come quick!"
She briskly hung up as she was intruded by a loud set of knocks coming from the other side of the bathroom, "hurry up! You've been in there for AGES."
Although it angered her to be barged out of her own property she was really no match for the party animals squeezed in all possible corners of her home. The door desperately swung open once she unlocked it so two older girls could get on with whatever they were doing in private.
That seemed to be quite common seeing as once she had been pushed about towards her bedroom multiple couples were inside almost making more noise than the raving music.
She was stuck in a nightmare, the only place she could let herself breath was under a dim lamp post just outside her apartment so that's where she stood, waiting for Benji to roll up in his relatively old Fiat. It wasn't a long wait, Benji was always concerned for her ever since she opened up about her 'relationship', so when he received calls from Emily saying she needed help he would be on it before she hung up.
Around 15 minutes of waiting flew past before Benji jogged up to her from parking behind the various amounts of cars sitting outside the building, "What are all these cars doing here."
She grabbed his hand and led him inside, he was wearing his grey sweats and an old baggy shirt so it was clear he had just came from trying to get to sleep. It bothered her that she had to interrupt his rest but in this case she was more concerned about the situation on her own hands.
"Well fuck," he stood there in complete shock as his eyes darted from person to person.
"Emily who are these people?" she held up her shoulders. "I don't know! That's why I need your help" a girl wearing practically nothing yanked open the door to shout in their faces.
"ARE YOU COMING IN OR NOT" her spit made them flinch as it landed on their faces, Benji wiped it away with one swish flick, if there was one thing that angered him the most it was when people had no sense in manners.
"That's it" he trudged in through the crowd and stood on top of her light grey couch. "HEY."
To her surprise he managed to catch the attention of everyone quite quickly, "turn that music off."
The stern look he shot the guy standing with the cable to her speakers scrambled him into frantically pulling the cord from his phone.
"I don't know why your here and what you were thinking but this has got to stop! Whoever let you in here does NOT own this apartment. This is trespassing and I want you ALL to leave with every scrap of litter you dropped unless you want to answer to the police!"
The sound of everyone's mopes circled the tight room as they started to pick up their belongings and head for the door. That was all it took, a speech from the one and only Benjamin Smith, Emily was slightly gobsmacked at the power he got ahold of when everyone shot him a dirty look as they trudged out the door.
"Wow, where was that hiding" she walked towards him as he hopped off the edge of the couch, "It wasn't, your just lucky you haven't pushed me over the edge yet" his shameless grin brought a quiet chuckle to Emily.
"And their actually picking up their shit, wow." she stared as the apartment emptied from empty drink bottles and plastic cups. "How do you think our students get so good at dancing?"
"HEY, what does that make me, the teachers assistant?" she furrowed her brows at Benji's shrugged shoulders. "I'm only joking, don't get worked up about it" he playfully swung her as his arms wrapped around her shoulders .
"Anyway I better get some sleep, busy day tomorrow per usual. Don't be late!" And another night slipped away once more as he exited with the last round of drunken zombies.
It was concerning as it was never explained, the vast amount of glammed up partiers crammed in up in her home. Unless she forgot to lock her door, which she never does, then who would have a key to get in. Jake didn't even have a key so where did they come from?
It troubled her all night as she tossed and turned in her uneffective bed sheets, and just when she thought she moved her body in a finally comfortable position the sun peered over the buildings outside her window. Yep just as she suspected, half six in the morning. 15 minutes till her alarm would go off.
---
"WOW, jesus Em. You didn't get much sleep i'm guessing."
She dropped her skates onto the bench and slammed her locker "NONE."
"Ugh, Benji what the hell was last night. It's like the gods are trying to turn my nose up at my new life." She yanked the laces of her boot, securing her foot into place.
"OK, Em 'the gods', they aint shit right now. Focus on the good like you usually do."
"What about Styles, he seems to be doing your life a favour." She loosened her muscles and let herself breath. "your right, he is."
Benji noticed the smile that formed on her lips once her head was injected with the image of him once more. "How are you guys anyway?"
She bit her lip just thinking about how much her issues and barriers have been torn because of his simple charm. "Well.. I may have told him I liked him."
He laughed in shock, "Emily! That's amazing!"
"And he may have told me liked me back." He stood up and ran his fingers through his maroon hair. "So was this the night of the 'date'?"
"Ah, so you heard about that?" He shot her an obvious glare. "Hunny, everyone has heard about that, Alex thinks you're famous now?!"
She giggled to herself, "well only time will tell where it goes but.. I don't know, I just have a gut feeling this little thing is going to last"
