She felt like she could throw up at any given moment, the tears in her eyes scratched her feelings as her legs sprinted towards the huddle of emergency vehicles, there were already a lot of people huddled around the place as she neared it but she couldn't spot the boys, they were most likely still out somewhere.

It looked like everyone who stayed in the levels above were huddled in blankets around the back of the ambulances, but there was someone missing..

Mary.

---

Harry was shaking in fear, he was in stood staring into the boot of a police van, Mary was perched on the edge of it along with Louis trying to comfort her hysterical tears as well as Niall, holding the bird cage she managed to escape with.

He had been there for around twenty minutes desperately trying to get a hold of Emily just incase she was at the scene searching for everyone but all he received was missed calls. Liam seemed to be trying his best to maintain his mentality whilst Zayn paced back and forth, through the ash injected air.

His jaw was clenched so much that it started to feel numb, the angst he was impaled with was only cutting deeper by the second, there was a decent amount of noise and commotion but it had suddenly rose quite frantically.

Mary still sobbed and her bird still screached but as for everyone else their attention fell onto.. oh my god. Emily, she was running straight into the fucking building.

With quick thinking Harry desperately struggled to get to her, "NO HARRY STAY HERE!" Liam struggled holding him back even with the help of Zayn, he had never seen him so determined.

---

Emily crawled through the thick clouds of smoke as she skipped up the stepps, skidding along every platform since her speed was so unbelievably fast, "MARY! Mar-"her coughs exploded from her throat after gasping a breath of 100% ash. Her eyes were burning, sizzling in the toxic air. Finally she had managed to throw herself up the last flight of stairs but this was where the climax of the fire seemed to be.

The heat was unexplainable, it burned her skin so much that she couldn't feel it but there was no sight of the struggled old woman anywhere. The apartment was empty and the flames behind her only seemed to be spreading.

Mary's small tabby cat ran towards her shaking legs, of course she couldn't let it burn alive so she knelt to pick it up but.. but there was no gtting up again.

Her lungs were trapped in a coughing fit, she had no strength to stand, her eyes were sizzling under her tightly shut lids.

Everything was going silent, slowly her body left all its senses of living only allowing room for coughs instead of breaths. Suddenly when all was going dark, arms tightly picked her up and wrapped around her waist, Harry, it had to be, just the way his body felt pressed against her as he ran out the building, it was too familiar not to be him.

The closer she got to fresh oxygen and the cool air the sooner she felt more awake, her coughs came back and once she was carried out the front entrance two men, most likely fire men, carried her towards an ambulance.

Her eyes were still glued shut, trying to reduce the deadly sting that was slowly melting them. She could feel her heart rate being checked as her coughing slowly settled. She wasn't magerly hurt but still paralysed by fear. She lay on a stretcher in the back of the ambulance and after what felt like hours of waiting for her eyes to gently began to pry back open, giving her a taste of relief.

"How do you feel?"

A nurse sympathetically whimpered as Emily slowly propped herself on her elbows. "Uhm.. I'm not sure."

She really wasn't sure, there was no telling if the burning of her lungs was expected to be this agonizing but she managed to breath again so I guess that was a good start. Her eyes wandered from the middle aged nurse to the scene which lay beyond the open doors of the ambulance.

Harry was stood there, cheeks imprinted with the smokes grey colouring and a thankful expression on his face.

She knew that running into a fire wasn't a great move but she couldn't see Mary anywhere and she knew that if she had done nothing and Mary was in that fire then Emily would forever live with the guilt knowing she could have done something.

"Is Mary safe?"

He gave her a gentle smile, so kind and tender, nothing you would expect from a man who had just pulled his girlfriend out a fire that was tearing his apartment to shreds. "Yeah, she's safe."

Oh thank god. She let out a long and desperately needed sigh, relaxing into a more settled state of mind.

The nurse switched her stare between me and Harry before shuffling out of the vehicle, "I'm gonna leave you two alone now.." She looked a little awkward as she walked from the scenario but in all fairness how were you supposed to act in a situation like this.

Now it was the two alone, Harry's face was lit by the orange glow of the disaster before them, he was clearly thinking about something but it wasn't obvious as to what it was..

"Did I make you mad..?" She quietly cried, hoping that if he did have a temper it wouldn't kick off. "What? No, no no no, you didn't make me mad." He uttered, climbing into the van next to her to pull her into an extremely needed hug. "I'm just thinking about how brave that was, you really put others first don't you."

It was nice knowing that she wasn't going to get dragged on a situation that looked so stupid in her eyes, she could feel him trembling, I guess he hadn't completely wrapped his head around it all yet. "You just scared me, that's all."

Despite the hellish pain she was currently being dragged through the corners of her mouth slowly started to curl into a smile. "I love you." She preciously stated, clearing the horrid situation from some extra negativity. "I love you too."

He planted a small kiss to the top of her head as she lay in his arms, it was going to take a while for not only Emily but everyone to adjust to these changes but aslong as everyone was safe.

That's all that mattered.
