I checked my email after my morning classes ended, but still nothing from Liam. I decided to grab a coffee at Biggby's with my roommate, Devin. Now, for all intensive purposes, Devin is my cousin. Our mom's were college roommates, and they always stayed close. So, we were always together growing up, and she was just like family to me. We sat at a table as far from the door as we could get, when a rather tall gentleman pulled a chair up to the table and sat down. I didn't recognize him from anywhere.

"Hi, hun!" Devin hugged the stranger. Noticing my widened eyes, Devin giggled a bit. "Sarah, this is Brian! He's a close friend of mine, I hope you don't mind I asked him to join us!"

"Hi there," Brian smiled sweetly. "Brian Rosenthal," he gave a little half-wave.

"I'm so sorry for staring. I'm Sarah," I smiled and waved back. "I'm Devin's roommate!"

"No worries!" He chuckled. "Roommates, you say? I guess that means we'll be seeing a lot of each other!" he said, excitedly.

Devin chimed in, "We are basically attached at the hip. He's my best friend!"

The three of us sat there, sipping our coffees and chatting about plans for the Thanksgiving holiday. Devin would be staying with her friend Lauren, as she had no desire to see her own family. Brian would be visiting relatives in New York, and was hoping he'd get to see a show while he was there.

"What are your plans, Sarebear?" Devin asked.

"Oh," I said quietly. The truth was, I had nowhere to go. I wasn't going to fly home for a week just to fly back out; airfare was too expensive for last minute flights. "I actually don't have plans right now. I was going to head back home to Boston, but my family will be staying with relatives elsewhere, as they weren't expecting me home. I'll probably just stay here."

Before Devin and Brian could respond, I caught a glimpse of Nico out of the corner of my eye. He must have seen me, too, because he started towards our table. Brian must have known Nico, because the two waved to each other.

"Hey, guys," Nico greeted us all. "Hi, Sarah," he smiled as he said my name.

I smiled back, "Hi, Nico." I think my face went all flush; I could feel my cheeks burning, but I don't know if it showed or not. I think I was in the clear.

"How do you two know each other?" Brian asked, surprised.

"We take science classes together," Nico answered. Then he added, "And she's my +1 this weekend to Darren's party!"

"Y'all are going? That's great!" Devin smiled. "You'll have a blast, hun. Darren and Brian really get into these types of things."

"Aren't you going?" Nico asked.

"I am," Brian said. "But this one's got an audition for a commercial!" he gestured to Devin, who's face flushed scarlet.

"Niiiiice! Congrats," Nico said, patting her on the shoulder.

"Thanks a lot, Bri. Yeah, I'm pretty excited. Nico, do you want to sit?"Devin pulled up a seat between her and myself, and Nico sat down.

I turned to him, "I thought we were going to a movie?" I was just generally confused, I wasn't trying to offend him.

"I figured we could do a movie and then swing by the part after - if you wanted," he smiled. "No pressure, I'm down for whatever."

The thought of going to a part with people I didn't know made me both nervous and uncomfortable. I looked at Nico's smiling face. I didn't want to seem like the lame-ass freshman who didn't like to party.

"I'd love to go," I lied. "I just didn't know there was anything going on! I'm seriously up for whatever you want to do," I smiled. I just hoped I looked and sounded genuinely interested.
