i am watching the concert atm!!
aa it's so amazing to see,, this is such a great way to celebrate asian pacific american heritage month and such a great cause
i love how the artists talk about their experiences growing up as asian, it's very relatable and so cool to see this whole congregation of asian artists
i think most, if not all, asian american kids growing up go through an identity struggle, feel out of place, or face discrimination
this month is to celebrate being asian and be proud of who we are :)
i've seen a lot of artists i haven't heard of before and like yayy more music to listen to
i missed a bit of the show when i talked to my mom but so far!!
i really liked suboi's song i'm definitely listening to that after thiss and also umi's meditation!! so peaceful i enjoyed it a lott
i'm also really excited for the upcoming artists! the whole last section are artists i knew before watching
so i'm killing some time writing and vibingg
for me, being asian american, i definitely faced discrimination and had an identity struggle growing up
there was a point where i wished to be white and really felt out of place
however, i'm really grateful to have discovered korean music at the time that i did
in 7th grade, i was going through a rough period of time. i was constantly unhappy and sad (prbly the hormones tbh)
i discovered the world of kpop in 8th grade and it has definitely changed my life for the better
it made me proud to be asian, i embraced my culture and really explored it. now i am practically in love with vietnamese food lol and i love watching chinese dramass very random but without this push i honestly don't know where i would be today
i might still be uncomfortable in my skin who knows
i am grateful to live in an era of kpop and all that with asian representation on the rise!
however, we can't forget all the hate and racism that has been happening due to the corona virus. more than ever asians as a whole need to stick together, don't take bs from anybody, and don't be afraid to call people out about it
if you feel like you can't do anything to help stop the racism and help our asian community don't be discouraged! there are very simple things you can do such as boycotting brands (lululemon for ex.), supporting/eating out from local asian restaurants, and reposting hate crimes to spread awareness
you do have an effect!
okay that's pretty much all for my speech
i'm tired but i don't wanna miss keshi or niki :(( i also have school tmrw at 8:30 so like i rlly do need to sleep soon
i'm debating
