Chapter Two

Addy was laying on the sofa with Carl watching tv when someone started banging on the door frantically. Addy squealed in fright and threw herself into Carl's arms. Carl holds her closer as she whimpers. Lori rush's into the room and looks at Carl holding addy and staring at the door. "Stay right there" Lori says to Carl and she walks up to the door. She looks through the peep hole and see's it's Shane knocking.

She opens the door and he rush's in slamming the door behind him and breathing heavily. He turns around quickly when he hears addy starting to cry. "Carl leave her right there and go to you room and pack some cloths. Lori do the same. Now!" He yells at them as he rush's into the kitchen and starts throwing can's of food and water into a bag.

Lori rush's after him "what the hell shane! What is going on?" Shane doesn't stop and drops the bag near the front door "we don't have time to discuss this. Go pack your shit now Lori!" He rush's past Lori and picks up addy, taking her into her room. He starts grabbing all her baby bags which are mostly packed already. He grabs more cloths and nappies. He looks around for all her travel stuff and starts gathering it all up and taking it to the front.

Carl drops his bags at the front door seeing Shane coming toward him. "Help your mum start packing all this in the car. Be quick and watch out for anyone coming close. If they do call me." He starts rushing back as Lori comes out with her bags. Carl calls out to him "don't forget Addison's medications." Shane nods and rush's back to her room.

Addison watch's as Shane rush's back into the room and grabs another bag. He opens her medical draw and starts packing everything in. He looks around to check if there's anything else that's need. He's satisfied he's got everything he can for her and grabs her out of her crib with her blanket. He puts it over her head so she can't see everything going on outside.

He gets to the front door right as Lori grabs the last bag watching him come running to them. They rush to the truck and Shane hands addy to Carl in the back seat "strap her in bud." Shane and Lori both jump into the front. "Ok you need to tell me what the hell is going on!" Lori yells. Shane pulls out of the drive way and speeds off. He looks in his mirror to make sure Carl got addy strapped in. He see's Carl trying to distract addy who is still pretty upset about everything.

Shane sighs "it's the virus they been talkin bout on tv. It's turning everyone into cannebules. I saw it with my own eyes. Watched my neighbour bite her own husband in the neck, killing him. The government are saying we need to evacuate. Say that got some sorta safe place in Atlantic city, that's where we are going. I need to get you all there to safety." He tightens his hands on the wheel as they drive through the town seeing people attacking each other.

Lori gasps "oh no! Rick... rick's still at the hospital. We can't leave my husband. Please Shane we have to go get him." Shane is silence for a few seconds before he turns the wheel and heads towards the hospital. They look at the military taking action all over the place. There are dead bodies and people screaming and running.

Shane speeds into the hospital parking lot and parks right near the front. He turns to Lori "stay here! I'll go get him. Don't leave this car you understand me?" Lori nods. Shane hands her his handgun just in case. Shane looks back at the kids. "Carl, buddy. I'm gonna be right back, stay here with your mum and sister. Try to keep her calm and quiet. I won't be long." Shane says as he gently rubs Addison's foot as she stares up at everyone frightened.

They watch Shane run into the hospital. The sounds coming from around them are horrible. They can hear gun's being fired and people screaming. Lori looks back at Carl "Carl baby, it's gonna be ok. " she says as she reaches for his hand. Carl nods silently then see's someone walking up towards there car behind his mum. His face pales and he points.
