Chapter Five

Carl is sitting in fro t of his mum as she cuts his hair. Shane is sitting across from him with Addison on his lap playing with his hat that he had put on her head. Carl keeps trying to make faces at addy since she's facing him but that makes him move and Lori gets annoyed. "The more you fidget, the longer it takes." Lori says as she tries to get his attention off his sister.

"I'm trying" carl says then pokes his youngest at addy when she looks up at him. Addy fidgets on shanes knee and flings her hand up trying to wave the hat at Carl but ends up smacking Shane in the face. He laughs a little bit, happy she's interacting a bit more. He looks back at Carl and Lori "you think this is bad, wait till you start shaving. That stings. When that time comes, you'll be wishing for one of your mums hair cuts."

Carl smiles "I'll believe that when I see it.". Shane smiles and brush's some of Addison's hair out of her face before saying to Carl "tell you what, get through this with some manly dignity and tomorrow I'll teach you something special. I'll teach you how to catch frogs." Carl thought there was nothing to that "I've caught a frog before."

Shane smiles "frog's, plural. This my friend is not to be taken lightly. Ways of means you need to know about. I'm willing to share the secrets." Carl is sceptical and looks back at his mum. "I'm a girl, you talk to him." Lori says as she continues with the hair cut.

"It's a one time offer bud, I'm not gonna repeat it" Shane says as he watch's addy throw his hat to the ground, no longer interested in it. Carl looks at Shane thinking "why do we need frogs, plural." Shane replies "you ever eat frog legs?" Carl instantly scrunches up is face. Lori agrees "he's right."

Shane shakes his head "nooo. You get down to that last can of beans your gonna be lovin those frogs legs lady. 'See now uh Shane, can I have a second helping please. Just.. just one." Shane smirks after trying to talk in a girly voice. Lori laughs " yeah, I doubt that."

"Don't listen to her man. You and me will be hero's, feeding these folks cadged style" Shane says and tries to pull a face at addy when she looks back at him. He just wants to see one little smile on her face. She's almost 3 and hasn't spoken a work or smiled in well over a month.

Lori interrupts his thought " I would rather eat miss piggy.... yes that came out wrong." Shane couldn't help but laugh. "We'll be hero's son. Spoken of in song and ledgends. Shane and Carl. I'm even gonna get little miss thing here to eat a little frog leg. Hopefully get her hoppin around like one too." Shane says as he wiggles her a little bit trying to get a laugh.

Before anyone can say anything more. They hear the same of a car alarm. It sounds like it's getting closer. Everyone jumps to there feet. Shane has Addison tightly in his arms as he rush's over to where the RV is. He races in and puts addy in her crib before rushing back out and closing the door to keep her safe. He yells up to dale on the roof "talk to me dale!"

Dale stands up looking through his binoculars "can't tell yet" he keeps looking and everyone waits as the sound gets closer. Amy starts questioning "is it them? Are they back?" Dale finally spots the red sports car racing towards them driving erratic. "I'll be damned, it's a stolen car is my best guess."

Lori stands back holding onto Carl as the car starts pulling up in front of the group. Shane runs towards the car as glen gets out with a big smile on his face. Shane is pissed. Dale yells out "holy crap! Turn that damn thing off!" Glen holds his hands up "I don't know how!"

Shane says to glen right as Amy runs up asking a million questions "pop the hood please." Glen can't hear him properly so he smacks the hood and speaks over the top of Amy who won't shut up "pop the damn hood!" Glen nods and quickly does as he ask's with Amy still nagging him. "Is she alright? Did she get out?" Glen gets annoyed about her non stop questions. "Yes she's ok!" This doesn't stop Amy from nagging and questioning him.
