Chapter Three

Carl is sitting on the ground in camp with addy beside him. He's trying to get a smile out of her by making her sloth bounce around. Shane smiles over at him. He's proud of how hard he's trying with her. He might be the only one that has a chance of getting through to her. He's getting concerned with how small she is. She hasn't gotten any better since everything went to hell.

Amy picked up another pile of wood from beside him and made her way over to the fire area. He looked up when he heard her drop everything, everyone stopped when they also heard a voice coming through over the CB radio. Amy tries to reply to the person but it doesn't work.

Addy had heard the voice. It sounded just like her daddy so she when over to Amy and went to start touching things wanting to talk to daddy. Shane had just made his way over to them before she managed to change anything. He picked her up and placed her on his knee as he kneeled and started trying to speak to the man " hello hello, is the person who called still on the air? This is officer shane Walsh broadcasting to the person unknown, please respond"

There was no answer and addy started getting upset and smacking his hand. He tried bouncing her to settle her. He didn't know why she was getting worked up like this. He stood up with her in his arms and kissed her temple "Shush addy, it's ok" he sighed and said to the group "he's gone".

Lori stood there looking at him annoyed at the attention he was giving addy. "There are others, it's not just us." He looked over at Lori "we knew there would be, that's why we left the CB on." Lori replies with a bit of attitude "lotta good it's done and I've been saying for a week that we needed to put signs out on 85 and warn people away from the city." Amy cut in "folks have no idea what there getting into."

Shane is annoyed knowing why Lori is giving him attitude. "Well we haven't had time". Lori argues "well I think we need to make time." Shane looks back at her "that's a lugduiry we can't afford. We're surviving here dad to day." Dale agreed with Shane "and who do you propose we send?" Lori cuts in quickly "I'll go! Just give me a vehicle". Shane shakes his head while rubbing addy's back "nobody goes anywhere alone. You know that"

He noticed the change on lori's face before she stormed off. Carl goes to follow after her but Shane cuts him off "Hey Hey Hey, it's alright. Take a seat bud. Look after your sister for us. We won't be long ok. Go on now" he puts addy down and Carl grabs her hand guiding her back over to where they were sitting. Dale sits down behind addy and puts her head. As he watch's Shane run after Lori.

Amy smiles at the kids. Addy looks up at dale and points to where her mum and uncle Shane just went. Dale nods "they will be right back ok sweet heart." Carl grabbed a water bottle and gets addy's attention to drink some "Come on sis, can you drink a little bit for me?" She does and he smiles. Before he gets back to trying to make her smile with her sloth.

Carl looked up noticing they were taking a while. He looked up at dale "dale could you watch addy for a second?" Dale nodded. He loved this sweet little girl. Carl wandered off towards there tent "mum?" Shane walked out to see only Carl "Hey bud, where your sister?" "Oh she's with dale. Where's mum?" Shane pats his head "she's in there, go on bud." Carl walks over to his mum coming out of the tent as Shane walks off.

Lori kneels down "Hey, I don't want you to worry. I'm not going anywhere. Ok? Ok go finish your chores" she watch's as Carl runs off towards the others. When Carl got back to the others and saw Shane walking over to the RV carrying addy who looks like she's fallen asleep. "Don't worry Carl. Shane's just puttting her down for a nap." Dale said when he noticed Carl watching. Everyone started getting back to what they where doing.

It's a little while later and Addison is up and was sitting next to Carl and her mum. Sophia came over "hey Carl, want to go play checkers?" He smiled at her then looked to his mum. She nodded and they went off. Addy watched him walked off then looked to her side to see her mummy get up and walk away. She knows her mummy hates her. She must have been very bad. She sits there sadly for a few minutes then looks around. She quickly spots daryl walking towards the big tree's. She gets up and as quickly as she can, tries to follow him. He's hardly made in 10 steps from camp when he hears tinny feet behind him.

He turns around and see's addy. "Lil one, what are ya doin. Ya knows ya ain't to come out ere." He says to her as he walks back to her and picks her up. She quickly cuddles her face into his shoulder. He still can't understand why she always does this but he likes it. He would never admit it to anyone but he adores this little girl. She's so pure and accepts him just as he is.

He makes his way back and Amy looks up "I thought you where going hunting?" Daryl scoffs and walks up to carol. Carol looks up and see's he has Addison again. She stands up and helps him pry her off yet again. This always happens. "Damn people. Ain't watching Er. She was chasin afta me into the wood. Y'all need to be watchin Er at all times." He grumbles and pats her head before walk-in off into the woods to go hunting like he had planned.
