CHAPTER 12: BREAKING FREE

Athena's pov

It's hard leaving him that way. I love him. I still love him a lot. But, i really need to think things through away from him. Yeah, I made desperate decisions that I might regret. But I believe if we are destined to be together, then faith will always finds it's way to get us back together.

After our argument, I informed our parents about my decision to cancel the wedding and they felt sad again. I know how much they wanted this marriage to occur, but they were all understanding and they respect my decision but they are still keen about the wedding to happen someday. I didn't argue with them cause I know how hard it is.

At the moment, i'm having second thoughts if I will continue to work with him. It's gonna be so hard seeing him everyday. But then, I'm still his secretary so I need to go to the office and work with him professionally.

2 months have past and William didn't showed up to the office. I feel responsible about it. I'm worried about him. His mother said he was attending a business trip abroad, but i know it was just his cover up.

I put my things back to my original office located outside Williams. My office is see through since it was made of a glass wall. It have a connecting door in Williams office.

My days has been boring after our argument. I barely go out with my friends, I became a loner. All I think about everyday is William. I wonder where he is and what his been doing. He never contacted me after that.

The phone rang and I answered it. "CEO office. How may I help you?" I said in a professional tone.

"Athena can you please bring the file of the cartons? It was on Williams, just look for it." The other line answered. It was Williams father. He was the acting CEO since William was on abroad.

"Yes. Mr. Johnson. Where do you want me to send the files?" I asked while searching for the files.

"In the conference room in my office Athena. And please hurry. This is urgent. Thanks." He said.

After I found the file I went to the elevator. Ping! The door suddenly opened and a blonde tall woman with a petite figure stepped outside. She looks gorgeous with her outfit. White sheer top and black skinny jeans and a pump boots. She looks like a model and seemed nice. She stared at me and smile, I smiled back at her and stepped inside the elevator. I wonder who she is.

When I arrived at Mr. Johnson's office there are 6 persons inside. Some of them I know, some I don't. Mr. Johnson's gestured me to go inside. "Everyone, this is Athena Ysabelle Miller. She will be assisting us today." I felt nervous. I have never been in a meeting like this before.

I saw Keith smiling at me in the corner of the table. I nodded at him.

"My son will be joining us today, lets give him 30 mins more. Is that okay?" Oh God! William is here? I swallowed. A sudden race of my hearts beat occurred. This will be the first time I'll see him after our argument.

After 10 minutes the conference door opened at William showed up in he's usual business suit. His face looks raggedly tired. I looked at him while he waltz towards his seat. He didn't glanced at me. Maybe he didn't noticed me or he was ignoring me? I frown.

"William welcome back!" Everyone greeted him and he shook their hands one by one. "How was the trip son? Did we acquire a new venture?" He's father asked.

"We did. Actually, our business partners in California want to see the original venture here. They'll coming next month." He said without any expression in his face. He still didn't looked at me even though I was just behind his father. He really is avoiding me.
