When I came to, I breathed in heavily, feeling sore in every inch of my body. My right arm felt like it was burning, and I slowly started sitting up. I looked to my arm shakily and saw the Mark of Cain was burned back into my skin, pulsing an orange glow through my veins. I groaned, looking around in the darkness.
It was night, and the other three were slowly coming to. I slowly started getting up, trying to keep my balance. I heard Vincent groan and I started going to help him up. He held his head, his neck moving dizzily.
"You okay?" I asked, and he nodded, holding his eyes closed.
I breathed out slightly and looked to see Jack moving slightly, waking up. I went to help him. He sat up and rubbed his neck, groaning. I rubbed his back and he looked at me worriedly.
I looked to Guy and saw he was lying on his stomach, arms crossed under his face. He was breathing heavily. I went to him and looked down at him. He looked at me shakily, then down slowly.
"I'm sorry," He choked slightly as he cried, rubbing his face on his sleeve.
I breathed heavily, then helped him up. I looked to the others and they were standing. Vincent was leaning on his knees to catch his breath while Jack was looking at me worriedly. I looked down to the Mark, feeling it's old resonation. I looked away from it and breathed heavily, looking at Guy as he looked at me sadly. He looked down.
"I'm sorry," He repeated.
I grit my teeth slightly, "You should be," He looked up at me, starting to cry, "Because this isn't something that can just be forgiven." I shook my head slowly, "Guy, we were trying for months to get this thing removed because of what it does to me." I motioned to the Mark, "It's why you're here."
"I know, but,"
"But what?" I stopped him, "You're willing to put lives on the line because of what?"
"Because I couldn't watch you die." He told me, "Why don't you understand? I don't want to see you die."
"I told you we were going to find another way."
"What other way, Cas?" He asked, shaking his head slightly, "There was nothing."
I looked at him, then looked down slightly, "That doesn't excuse anything."
I started walking to try and find where the hell we had ended up. The three followed me and I held my arm, breathing heavily. I felt bad for yelling at the kid but for hell's sake, we had told him before what the Mark was so many times.
If I ever got my hands on Dylan, oh, no, no, no, he would not be the one chuckling.
I stopped slowly at the thought and the others stopped behind me. Just the thought of having blood spilling from someone else gave me an explainable happiness. I blinked and tried to get my mind off it.
"Cas?" Jack asked, and I looked at them. They were all standing together, "We know that you, well, we all are against the fact you have the Mark again, but like Guy was trying to say, there really was no other choice. You can't say that if it were any of us in your shoes in that situation, you wouldn't have let us go."
I looked at the ground slightly, then kept walking. I heard him sigh and I looked around, "We have to be close to the car." I told them, and heard them walking after me
Guy...
I held my hands in my pockets and kept my head down. I deserved to be yelled at by Cas. She didn't want me to let her go, but I did, and that was my fault. If I hadn't let go, though, she'd be dead. I didn't know which was worse.
