Alex's POV

Everyone experiences different kinds of pain, different kinds of love, happiness, sadness, and anything else you can think of. Everyone goes through life differently and no one can predict what could happen...whether it may be to you or your family or friends, your loved ones, people your close to, people you know or even a random stranger. Right now as of this moment my life has taken a turn that I never expected...a turn that I never wanted to happen and a turn that could change a persons life either for the best or for the worst. I was seated in an uncomfortable chair that I had been sitting in for the past six hours, my legs were cramped, my back hurt like crazy and my butt had completely fallen asleep but I was not leaving yet...I wouldn't walk out of here without knowing.

I listened to the heart monitor beep as everything stayed quiet in the room, the same four white walls that I had been looking at for so long seemed to close in further and further which each hour that passed. The Garfield poster that was hung on the wall seemed to taught me more and more, the same smirk plastered on that dumb ass cats face seemed to stretch wider and wider every time I looked at it. I leaned forward adjusting my position on the chair trying to get a little more comfortable as I slipped my hand into the hand closest to me, I wanted to feel the warmth I normally felt when I held his hand but as of right now all I felt was coldness that made me shiver. My eyes were already swelled up from the tears I had been crying out, my cheeks were stained with my mascara that had run while I was crying...as I said...I haven't moved from this chair since I sat down.

But this isn't the beginning of my story, this isn't the beginning of our story...in fact this is the story of how I fell in love. The story of how my heart shattered and broke within a ten second-phone call, the story about how my life turned around and changed. The story about how I met someone completely out of my league and completely different then my parent's standards, the story on how I met my little rebel.

It all started back in September...the seventh to be exact, I had just started school again and was moving into the dorm where I would be staying for the next nine months. I was in my last year of University at NYU and I would be finishing the literature program and Design program. Yes I aimed high and achieved great marks...in fact I had never failed anything in my entire life. I went to an all girls private school for grades one to ten and then I switched to a different private school for the gifted. Yes I'm a smart ass and yes I am the top of my class, most of the people at my school hated me because I was doing so much better then them. However after graduation instead of going to an Ivy League school I chose New York University...I chose NYU because it's one of the schools that most of my friends were going to, although my parent's definitely had the money for an Ivy League school I ended up begging them to let me go to NYU. So now that it has been three years and my parent's are slightly regretting sending me to NYU I will be graduating by the end of the year...well actually the end of May to be exact.

If you hadn't guessed it yet...my parent's are rich and I mean really rich, were not royalty or anything but we do live in a house with two wings and a very big backyard that consists of a pool, a hot tub, a tennis court and more trees then you could ever count. My mother is at home most of the time but when she's not there she's with other women planning and organizing events like a dances or a charity ball or my all time favorite occasion...the husband or wife hunt. This event consist of the daughter or son of one of my parent's friends children looking around and talking to any one else that's around there age, at the end of the night they are to select three to four guys or girls that they could see them spending the rest of there lives with. Then they spend the year talking and getting to know each one of them until finally choosing one to be with...and yes all rich families go through this and unfortunately as of the summer which would be ten months from now...I would be attending this occasion...as the woman looking for her husband or might I say the prey looking for her victim.

________

"Thank god we've finally reached the last bag," Lexie said pulling the medium size luggage out of my car as I laughed and shut the back hatch. Lexie has been my best friend since I was four years old, were pretty much always competing against each other to win but even Lexie knows that when I set my mind to something I conquer all. "You do know that there is a laundry room here and were only staying for nine months," she added as I shook my head letting out a small laugh. Lexie comes from a rich family also...as if you didn't know us rich folks travel in packs and don't associate with anyone that isn't in high class and yes we can tell who's rich and who's not. Now although Lexie and I come from a high class we think as regular people as to what my parent's call everyone else, I hate that term personally I mean were all human beings we all matter but my parent's don't think that way.

"Yes I'm aware Lex but I like to have options," I admitted as she laughed and shook her head before we both jumped my heart raising a mile a minute as a person on a motorcycle came speeding past. The driver did a u-turn and parked on the opposite side of the street where the coffee shop was before he turned the bike off.

"Damn...rude much," Lexie said as I shook my head taking a step towards the university as she shook her head. "Why don't you try SLOWING DOWN MORON," she yelled as the person looked over at her for a minute before removing his helmet. "Damn," she whispered as I laughed slightly and shook my head taking a step towards her again.

"Lexie...stop watching the man and let's get our room set up," I said as she sighed and shook her head. She looked over at me with lust in her eyes as I laughed and started towards the building, a few minutes later she was walking beside me with my luggage at her side as we made our way to the dorm rooms. Yes I could of stayed with my parents and yes I could of stayed in the place they call the guest house so it would seem like I had my own place but I enjoyed staying at the school...I liked being so close to my classes that all I had to do was walk there and even if it decided to snow or rain I was in doors the whole time and didn't have to worry about traffic or accidents blocking my way to class.

"So there's this thing tonight that we should definitely go check out," Lexie started as I looked at her and shook my head. "Don't even say no...come on...you know we can blend in here so we'll be okay," she said as I sighed and unlocked and opened the door before walking in.

"Lexie I love you but I'm not going to any parties and getting drunk or anything like that," I said as she shook her head and placed my luggage down on the floor before pushing the door closed.

"Alex...please don't make me drag you there," she said as I sighed and turned around to look at her now pleading dark brown eyes.

"Damn you Lex," I said as she giggled knowing I had now caved and would go to the party even though I didn't want to. "Why do you want to go to that party anyways," I asked as I walked off to my room and started unpacking my bags trying to set everything up.

"Because it's the first party of the new school year and were two very hot single females who are ready to do some mingling," she said as I shook my head and looked over at her.

"You do realize that we choose our husband by that stupid party thing our parent's organize right," I stated as she sighed and nodded her head falling back onto my bed.

"I know but it doesn't mean that we can't mingle right," she said looking at the ceiling as I walked to the closet hanging up some of my clothes. "I'm really hoping there will be some hot guys at the party...but if I do hook up with someone you can't tell my parent's cause they won't like it at all," she said pointing at me as I nodded my head.

"I wouldn't do that to you Lex...you're my best friend I would never just rat you out to your parent's," I answered truthfully as she smiled and nodded her head before engulfing me into a hug as I laughed and hugged her back.

"This year is going to be awesome," she said before squealing and running off to her room as I laughed and shook my head taking more of my clothes out of the luggage so I could put them away in the closet.
