I noticed Merlin lingering outside the conference room so I waved a quick goodbye to the board members and disconnected the conference call. I shut the laptop and signalled Merlin to come in, sneaking a quick look at my watch. It was 19:30 and most of the workers had gone home but I was still stuck here in this glass box.

'The prenup meeting will take place in 30 minutes. Mr. Caldwell and his legal team are coming here. I have informed your legal counsel and they should arrive in 15 minutes to go over your conditions,' he informed briskly. He softened a bit, and offered me a smile before placing a cup of green tea in front of me. 'Did the meeting with the board go well?' He asked, 'Were there any objections to the marriage?'

I shook my head to say no as I took a sip of the slightly bitter tea that is supposed to be 'good for me'. Merlin sat down on a chair next to me and opened an excel sheet on his iPad as he read out the response to our latest app update. I sighed and put my head in my hands.

'The custom home feed thing is still not working out?' I asked, exasperated. 'IT said it would be fixed this update, but most users are still complaining about it. Set up a meeting with the creative and IT team sometime in this week.' I instructed.

'You don't have more than 30 minutes to give this week. And most of them can't be rescheduled or shifted around.' Merlin stated, showing me my calendar blocked out in red, blue and black.

'Next week then.' I brought the iPad closer to take a better look. 'I also didn't receive the mockup day before yesterday so please check up on that. This is the third time this month and I'm getting annoyed now.'

Merlin nodded and typed it out, mentioning other things that I have planned this week but haven't completely prepared for. We sorted my schedule for the next week and I went over the mockup of our Finance magazine- 'Business & More'- with the head of department.

I had to cut the discussion short because my legal counsel was already here. They made me read through the list of conditions and add or remove things as required.

When Jamie came, we sat down for business almost immediately. We went over the conditions for another two hours before coming to an agreement. Fortunately, our lawyers had been in touch as soon as we decided on the marriage, else this meeting would've been much longer.

There was still a lot left to do and a little more to discuss so we decided on another meeting where hopefully, we can sign and finalise the agreement. I glanced at Jamie, he seemed uncomfortably quiet. I offered to accompany him till his car and he just smiled.

On the way down, he removed his blazer and put it on my shoulders. I protested, but he insisted.

'Your cami top isn't going to do much against the wind. Can't have you catching a cold,' he stated, smiling warmly. 'Plus,' he added, 'it is nearly 10:30. It gets chilly this late.'
