We were interrupted by a soft voice. 'Definitely not the right place.' She said. I turned to her to see her smiling while Katherine fixed her lipstick muttering, 'This place is booked out. How did she get in here?'

When she looked up at the stranger leaning against the door, the anger in her eyes melted away and she smiled wide. 'Sarah,' she said, moving towards her.

Sarah was wearing a bulky grey sweater with a pastel pink dress overall and pink sneakers. A small grey bag swung from her shoulders as she moved towards me.

She placed the small bag on the floor and put on the protective gear

She placed the small bag on the floor and put on the protective gear. She smiled kindly at me.

'If you don't mind, could I have the gun for a bit? It won't take me more than a few minutes.'

I slid the gun towards her and she picked it up. She aimed at the hanging paper target and shot away. It barely took her any time to empty a round. I saw Katherine staring at her from the corner of my eye, she shifted her weight, feeling uneasy.

I glanced at the paper target Sarah was examining and nearly all shots were in perfect aim- to the head or the heart. It was surprising to see someone dressed in light pink dress overalls shoot like that. I suppose, the cottage aesthetic shouldn't have been the basis of my initial judgements.

She relaxed and smiled at the paper, picked up her grey bag, then headed back. Not once, did she stop to glance at Katherine, who was still looking at her. Right before she opened the door, Katherine grabbed Sarah's wrist.

'You said you understood, you said we ended on good terms. So why are you being like this?' She asked, exasperated.

Sarah turned around and freed her arm. 'I though you didn't want this. I thought you were being pushed into this but would you look at that- you seem to be quite fine with it.' Sarah quipped, anger eminent in her voice.

'Katherine,' her voice had softened now- in less than a second, 'I don't mean to be angry. I'm just,' she paused briefly, looking for the right word, 'hurt. I'm hurt that less than a month ago, I thought we'd get married and now, you're kissing him. I wish I could say I need time, but I need more than that. So maybe we didn't end on the best terms after all.'

She walked away without a word as Katherine just stood there- still and quiet. I picked up her hair tie that was now on the floor from all the hurried kissing and walked up to her.

I began tying her hair. She protested against it but I continued anyway. I made my voice as soft as I could before saying, 'Let's go get ice cream. Whether you want to talk about it or not is up to you, but I'm here to listen.'

She nodded. 'If you think I want to talk about my first love with my fiancé then you're a moron.' She retorted, opening up the hair that I had tied into a ponytail with much difficulty.

'Did you teach her to shoot?' I asked, trying to fill the silence.

'She taught me,' she clarified, smiling. 'She used to be a detective or something but she left after being shot in the shoulder. I guess she overestimated her willingness to die.'

She shoved her wallet into her small jeans pocket as I started the car. I was never big on ice cream, weirdly enough, but it seems to magically solve problems. So I hit the gas and followed google maps' instructions to the closest ice cream place.

When we got there, it was closed. It seemed as though it had been closed for years now. Katherine looked at me and gently kicked the back of my shoe.

'Oh yes, seems like the perfect place to have ice cream.' She said sarcastically, getting back inside the car, looking through the phone for some other ice cream store.

I dragged her out of the car, despite her violent protests and punches and convinced her to go for a walk with me. 20 minutes in, she was panting and walking weird. I suppose, I should not have teased her about it because next thing I knew, she was sprinting down the road asking me to speed up and calling me a slowpoke.

I smiled to myself and ran behind her. The closer I got, the faster she ran and it felt like I just couldn't get to her all up until the point where she stopped suddenly, causing me to crash into her.

We were both falling, her mouth in the shape of a big 'O' and her eyes filled with rage while I smiled casually. I placed my hand at the back of her head. She landed on the floor, her heavy head resting on my hand, my whole weight resting on her. I got off as soon as I could, pulling my hand from under her head, causing her to wince and shout.

'Can't do a single thing right,' she said, picking herself up then helping me get to my feet. 'Don't you ever learn from your mistakes? Are you going to keep letting me fall to the floor like that?'

She lightly punched my shoulder. I think she severely underestimated how hard she hits. Either that or she overestimates my strength. I winced as she laughed at me.

I hadn't realised till now but her laugh was cute. It was like a song really, it had a certain rhythm, a certain tune to it. It was cute- she was cute.

She stopped laughing for a bit. 'What are you looking at?' She said, confused at my unflinching gaze.

'I am not kissing you again, okay?' She clarified, waving her arms in front of me to get my attention. 'It was a one time mistake. It was all that tension in the air. Don't read into it.'

I walked closer to her and my eyes were still fixed on her. 'Okay then,' I said, getting closer to her, 'no more kisses.' I gently tugged at her hair tie as her hair fell loosely around her face. 'It's just that,' I paused. It's just that I really wanted to kiss her, I wanted to feel that- that hammering in my chest, that current under my skin like every cell was imploding. I really wanted it once more.

I stepped back and gave the hair tie back to her. 'Never mind.'

Her face got all scrunched up as she tilted her head and looked at me and with confusion. 'You can't just leave me at a cliffhanger like this,' she shrugged, coming closer, 'it's just what, Jamie?'

I kept going backwards and she just came closer and closer until every breath smelt like an iced vanilla latte- like her.

'No more kisses,' I whispered under my breath, before turning around and heading back to the car.

She whined throughout the way, 'lightly' punching my arm and kicking my heels. There was only one thing going on in my mind- that kiss.

Her leaning against the pillar with my hands wrapped around her waist and her hands clutching onto me. I know she said no kisses but I couldn't help but hope that she didn't mean it.
