Pov: Sami

After what was an extremely long school day that started with greeting my new acquaintance who was half naked in the morning, driving him (fully dressed) to school, befriending people at lunch, getting an other project and then having a new friend to my house.

Everything today was taking me out of my comfort zone. It was becoming difficult to stay grounded, with a calm facade. I was always nervous and anxious, but I have to play it cool. I am not weak. I am confident, strong, independent; I have to be. I am.

I am in the kitchen making popcorn. Walker sits at the counter on his phone till he looks up at me,"Can I put some music on?" he asks. We already know that our music tastes are similar from the ride here.

"Yeah. How many stations do you have?" I ask referring to Pandora which I had just watched him tap on.

"Thirty eight," he answers as he scrolls through the bands and artists, chooses one and turns the volume on. I smile hearing a song by bowling for soup start to play, jokes are implanted in the song that I personally find funny. Then I turn to Walker.

"I win." I state."I have sixty nine." I finish with a sense of triumph, I tend to become competitive in music. He looks at me then looks down and laughs a little.

"What?" I ask, confused at the humor in what I had said.

"Nothing, just if Dylan were here he would probably find it hilarious that you said 'sixty nine'." he answers chuckling a little at the end.

Oh.

"You're very close to them," I say thinking of all the people I had met at lunch, it seems like a lot to me. I don't have friends.

"Yeah I've known Dylan since we were kids. We live close to each other, but in middle school he was home schooled. I met Chase mid way through eighth grade, he was kinda lone-wolfish and liked to pretend to be a bad ass. He was a year older than everyone in our grade and no one would go near him, but I already had no friends and guys who hated me unconditionally; so I had nothing to lose. We ended up becoming good friends and he taught me how to how to deal with ridicule till they left me alone. Going into high school we hung out with Dylan and Cat and our group began to grow." He smiles,"They tell me I don't talk enough."

"No." I shake my head."I think we're talking just fine right now." I grin and pass him his popcorn and soda.

For a second he almost reaches to pay me then realizes that he doesn't have to, so instead he grabs his drink and sips a little.

"This is such a cool place to live!" He tells me, suddenly excited, like a small child with a present. I grin at the innocence he is radiating.

"Do you want a tour?" I ask, only half joking. I have before. He nods his head enthusiastically.

"And this is my room, that's everything." I grin presenting the tall red door to my room. We just spent twenty minutes looking around Haven. I had honestly never been more proud, every room we went into Walker would fuss over. He would coo 'ooh's' and 'ah's' at some rooms looking around and cautiously touch things. He asked how the rooms were renovated and I didn't really have an answer. Walker is very curious, he asks a lot of questions and knows a lot of things and he talks with me a lot. He makes observations and analysis' of things.

"Wow. This is- just wow." I laughed at his lack of words, I guess he ran out at some point.

"But, where is your family? Parents at work?" he said this casually, not realizing the heavy topic he had just brought up.
