Chapter Five - The Roof Top

"Sir! There Is no need to kill me or my friends! One of them Is pregnant!" I try to reason with the guy that has the gun pressed against my head.

A large gust of cold wind blows, making me shiver.

"Just drop your weapon" The man says.

I hear his gun click, putting the bullet into firing position.

I gulp.

We're Screwed I say to myself, dropping the weapons I have on me.

The man bends down and grabs my weapon's.

I gulp again.

   Samantha's P.O.V

I see the man holding Lachlan at gun point grab Lachlan's weapons he was forced to drop.

I need to do something..

I breath as slow as possible, and stay as still as possible, even if I wanted to move I couldn't.. I'm scared.

The baby kicks in my stomach and makes me grown in pain. Ouch.

I see the mans head snap up.

No.

I sit up quickly and watch as Lachlans face fills with fright.

The man lifts his gun and takes aim on me.

Lachlan screams; "No!" And kicks the man between the legs, making the man howl in pan crouching over and firing the gun while doing so.

I don't think, just react.

I take this moment to grab my pistol from my holster, switching the safety off and running to the man, ignoring my baby bump.

I bring my elbow up and drive it down, hitting him in the head as hard as I can, sending him flying to the ground.

I kick him in the gut, and he rolls over and hisses in pain.

I raise my gun and point it at his forehead.

"Samantha! No! Don't Do I-" But before Lachlan can finish the sentence I pull the trigger.

My hand thrusts up from the recoil and the mans blood starts forming a puddle around his head.

He is dead. I think. I Killed Him. I think.

Then it hits me... I killed a living being.

I start to sob but stop when I see a small herd of Infected coming out of the woods, they must of heard the shots..

Lachlan just stares at me.

I look at him coldly.

"We need to go" I say and turn to a now woken Alec.

Lachlan picks up his weapons and tucks them away, before catching up to a jogging me and Alec.

I look back and in the darkness see some of the Infected have stopped and are now feeding on the dead man and the others are still chasing us.

"Where do we go!" Alec yells in a panic.

I look around and point; "There!" a metal latter going up the side of a building stands out.

We take a sharp right turn and continue sprinting towards the ladder.

When we reach the ladder Lachlan speaks; "Sam first! Ill go last, hold off anything that comes near" And no one argues.

I start climbing the ladder skipping two steps each time.

I hear three gunshots before they stop.

Bright side? It will be the fall that kills us.

I roll onto the roof, being careful not to roll on my stomach.

Alec hops us right after me and seconds later Lachlan swings his arms on the roof.

I stand and look around the roof, seeing several tents placed out, a fire pis, light. and a makeshift cloths line.

From instinct I whip a arrow out of it's quiver and load my bow.

Two men walk up to us.

I keep my arrow on one and Alec has his gun on the other, Lachlan keeping his gun at the other people who are standing by their tents.

"Babe, you keep a eye on these people, I got the man" Lachlan says.

I nod and don't take my arrow off the man until Lachlan has his gun pointed at him.

I start slowly moving my bow back and forth.

I notice the only weapon's this camp has are axe's, shovels, crowbars, kitchen knifes... Barely anything.

The man only holds a axe, and If he tries anything, he will be the one who looses. Everyone holds a melee weapon except us.

Both of the men drop their axe's and raise their hands.

"We don't want any trouble I heard the shots, woke my group up,were survivors from the bay, we came to the city for shelter, we seen on the television here would be the safest, I took my wife and kids here, lost em' in the middle of it, they turned, use this axe to put them down" He takes a breath.

"You're welcomed to stay here and join us, I'm Steven, this is Norman, so what do you say? You joining the group?" Steve asks.

I lower my gun, and look at Alec and Sam, they hesitantly nod.

I tuck my gun into its holster and nod, "Okay, under one condition" I say looking cold into Steve's eyes.

"Whats the condition?" He asks.

"I get to lead the whole group." I say with a straight face, I feel like I should lead these people..

Steve looks around, and everyone nods.

"Its settled" He says.

I nod and shake his hand.

"Attention! These Three will be joining us! And he" Steve gestures to me; "Will be your new leader"

"Whats your name?" He whispers in my ear.

"I'm Lachlan, he is Alec, and My girlfriend, Samantha" I say pointing to the two.

Steve introduces us to the people and we settle in, talking for the rest of the day.
