Lachlan's P.O.V

My eyes are shut tightly when the shot goes off, I didn't feel the bullet at all. And then I hear screams.

I'm Still Alive.

I open my eyes and see a body laying on the floor, not moving.

Claire.

"What happened..." I say, holding my gun with a loose grip, staring at the body of my friend.

"When you were about to... shoot yourself... Claire shot herself instead." Alec says, staring at her.

"Look... She left a note" Lou says, pointing to a slip of paper that Claire has clenched in her hand.

I bend down and and grab the note from her dead hands, and sitting on the old musky carpet I read the note aloud.

"I'm sorry Lachlan, I know you wanted to be the one to go.. But you do have stuff to live for, you have Samantha, you have the group, you have to get this group to safety.. Not anyone else, it has to be you I don't know how I know this, but I just do.. I hope you guys make it, and good luck.. And if I do turn.. Don't hesitate to put me down" The room remains silent as we just stare at Claire, her back all torn up where her heart was from the bullet exiting.

I roll Claire over so we can see her face, and black veins pop out of her neck and face, her face a grey color, and her eyes a faint yellow.

"Oh my god..." I hear someone whisper from inside the room.

I stare into Claire's eyes as they turn to a darker yellow, and then her fingers twitch and everyone takes a step back.

Faint growls escape Claire's lips, and then her arm twitches and her head snaps to the left, then the right, her eyes close and she stays completely still.

I step back and slowly pull the hammer of my revolver back, placing the next bullet into firing position.

Everyone in the room doesn't dare make a noise, even breath.

Then the ships horn blares.

Claire lets out a loud growl and her head snaps and she sits up faster then I could blink.

With a loud roar Claire stands up and looks around the room before laying her eyes on us.

She takes steps to us and I walk to her, to see if she goes to bite me.

And when I get close enough she jumps at me, grabbing my shoulder and attempting to bite it, but instead I kick her knees out, and with a loud snapping noise she tumbles to the ground.

I get on one knee, look at her and whisper; "I'm sorry" And I press the gun to her forehead and pull the tripper, watching as her head aggressively snaps back and twirls around, her blood and brains splatter against the wall.

I stand and look at the people in the room.

"It is airborne... We're all Infected..." I say, and with that I walk out of the room, followed by the rest of my group.

~~Time Skip~~

We all stand in the main room of the ship, watching as Dave drives the ship towards New Brunswick.

"So it's true? We're all infected?" Dave asks.

I just nod.

"So.. When you guys were busy figuring that out, I made a discussion with Tom and Kevin, we sailed past New Brunswick a few hours ago, we're sailing straight to Maine, save us some walking and driving around... Sorry.." Dave says to me, keeping a eye on the open ocean in front of us.

"It's fine.. Good thinking.. How much gas do we have?" I ask Dave, grateful for his thinking.

"A little under half a tank, We will get there, don't worry we should be arriving there in about a hour if everything goes good." Dave says with a smile.

I nod and walk off, needing to rest.

We are going to make it.
