As the months progressed and the cold soon turned warm, Harry and I kept growing closer.
He became one of the best friends God could grace somebody with.
We talked daily. We both agreed that our days felt incomplete without some form of input from one another.

Graduation was drawing near.
This fact terrified me.
I knew once we went off to his university, he would soon forget about me.
I am so easily forgettable.

"I promise I'll never forget you" Harry reassured me. "You're one of those people I'd like to keep around" he winked. We laughed.
Harry was a charming character. This fact made me unsure if he had any sort of feelings for me or if I would forever be nothing more than a best friend to him.

Besides. He had a girlfriend. One of 6 years might I add. I think it's crazy that something could blossom at such a young age. Even though he seemed unhappy with her, it wasn't my place to tamper with it. If a friend was all I could ever be to him I would be happy with that. At least we both had somebody to confide in.

Tears filled my eyes as I watched him and the rest of the graduating class make their way across the field. It was bitter sweet. This would be my last year in the audience before I myself would be making the march.

Alma matter, throwing of hats. And it was over with. Everyone made their way to the field to welcome the graduates with congrats and flowers and things of that sort.

I saw harry through the crowd, being closely followed by his girlfriend. She always had this scowl on her face like she had just smelled a dead animal. I wondered how a sunshine like him could be with someone so dreadful.

I made my way over to Harry to congratulate him.
"Harry!" I greeted him with a hug. My heart was pounding. "Congrats bud! Now just don't go off to college and forget about me"
"Thanks Chase, and you know I won't"

His smile turned to something unrecognizable as his girlfriend grabbed him by the arm and yanked him closer to her
"Let's go." She scowled.
He looked at me with defeat, hung his head, and walked away.

My heart broke for him.
