"Stop being so stubborn, Billie. It's allost time for school." Billie's mom said.

It was the second day of Kindergarten and Billie didn't want to go. All the little kids talked about what they wanted to be when they grow up and what their mommy's and daddy's do.

Billie knew she had a father, but she never knew what it was like to have a dad. She just simply felt envious of the kids with both of their parents in their lives.

"Mommy, please don't make me go." she pleaded.

"Get your ass up and put your shoes on before you miss the bus." her mom shouted.

"No! I don't want to go."

"Billie Eilish Pirate Baird, what has gotten into you?"  (so for story purposes, Billie's name is Billie Eilish Pirate Baird which ik sounds kinda funny but Maggie and them are the O'Connel's. got it? okay back to the story)

Billie deeply sighed thinking about all the questions she got about her dad at school.

"Mommy, what happened to my dad? All the kids at school have daddy's."

"He's a deadbeat. He wasn't interested in being a father so you shouldn't be interested in knowing about him. Go get to that bus stop, now!" her mom said with urgency jn her voice causing Billie to jump into her shoes and run to the bus stop.

Brandon held Billie tighter in his arms as she continued sobbing into his shirt. Her head laid comfortably on his chest while they were laying on the bed and gently ran his fingers through her head.

Billie couldn't even remember how she got in Brandon's arms but she knew that there was no place she would rather be. All she was thinking about was the sudden appearance of her quote on quote "dad" earlier that day. She hadn't even told Finneas or Maggie yet.

"Hey, relax, relax. It's good." Brandon said trying to calm her down, still running his hands through his hair.

"How does he just show up out of nowhere? After all I've been through without him, now he wants to show up?" she vented through her tears.

"I don't know, baby." Brandon said still listening.

"Where was he when I got my ass be everyday? Where was he when I got molested in my bed everynight? Where was he when other kids in the system bullied me to dirt? Or where was he when I got fucking raped, for fucks sake? "Where was he when I OD'd, huh? I literally almost died." she ranted. "I'm finally relatively happy, and now he wants to hop in my life?"

"It's fucked up, I know. What did he say to you?"

"He was talkin bout how he needs to speak to his daughter. Like bro." Billie scoffed out of frustration. "He gave me a card with his number on it for when 'Billie gets home'."

"You didn't tell him you were Billie?"

"Fuck no, I don't know that man."

"Are you gonna talk to him?" Brandon asked out of curiosity.

Billie had no words to say for a minute. She didn't even really know what to say to that. She always wanted to know who her father was but she could never forgive him for not being there when she needed him.
