It was a Saturday afternoon and I was not gonna wait around for Daddy to come by.

I took out the new phone Patrick just bought me and decided to text Josh on Snapchat.

Me: yeoo, im tryna leave this place. wtw

Josh: i can come pick you up and we can go to my crib

Me: uhh you dont wanna go to the mall or sum

Josh: nahh my parents aint home

Me: mmm alr

When I see Josh pull up, I quickly leave the house before anyone could say anything to me and rush in the passanger seat.

"What's poppin?" I greeted him as I closed the door.

"Why you tryna leave the house? Yo mama trippin?" he said as he started the car.

"Nah, I'm just not tryna be over there."

"Right." he said while driving. We sat in silence until we pulled up to his house which was relatively close.

We walk in and I notice that the house was more suburban than Maggie's.

"Damn you got a nice ass house." I said looking around. He led me to his bedroom that just smelled like a teenage boys room.

"Thank you, baby." he smiled.

After about two hours of getting to know eachother, I started to think he was a really cool person. I don't understand why Brandon and them don't like him.

"So how long have you lived in this big ass house." I asked.

"Actually not that long. We moved here about a year ago after my mom finished school and got her Masters degree in nursing. When she started getting paid a lot is when we decided to move."

"How was the last place you lived?" I asked. He got a sad look on his face as if he was thinking about bad memories. "Hey, you don't have to tell me if you don't want to."

"Nah, it's fine. It's just that, I didn't always live with my mom. She was really mentally unstable and couldn't take care of me when I was younger. I lived with my dad for most of my life in a small apartment." he said.

"Was your dad mean or something?"

"Well, he was always drunk. When he got angry, he would beat me. Sometimes with his bare fist, or sometimes with the buckle of the belt." I looked at him with sorry in my eyes. I knew how much it hurt to talk to someone about stuff like this.

I rubbed his shoulder as he looked at me. "I know how it feels. I'm happy y'all got y'all life together." I said softly.

"Yeah...well what about you? I see that you live with Finneas and I've never seen you there before." he said.

I broke the gaze away from him and took my hand off his shoulder. I looked down at my nails, being reminded of my current situation. I still don't have my life together. This is my 7th home, who knows how long I'll stay here.

"You okay, Billie?" he asked.

"Y-yeah, I'm fine." I said checking my phone.

I noticed I got a missed call from Patrick and a text from Maggie.

Maggie: Return home now young lady. Before I have to call the police.

I rolled my eyes and started laughing at how I've been gone for hours and she just now noticed I was gone.

"Hey, listen I gotta go. Can you take me home?" I asked Josh.

"Of course. Are you sure everything's okay?"

"Yeah. Can we just go?"

When I got home, I noticed a familiar car parked in the driveway.

Daddy.

I reluctantly walk in and see Maggie, Patrick, and Daddy sitting at the dining table.

"What's going on? Why is he here?" I asked.

"Can I talk to Billie in private please?" Daddy asked Maggie and Patrick. No way are they stupid enough to leave me with this man.

"Of course." Maggie said as they left the room.

"W-what do you want?" I stammered as he approached me.

"I missed you." he said getting closer to me.

"Get away from me!" I yelled as I backed away.

"Relax, baby." He said tossing me a box.

"Xanax? What is this? Some sick joke?" I said holding the box.

"Nah baby girl. I know you, Billie. You wanna act all tough cause you think your childhood was hard, but deep down inside, you're weak. I know you want this. I got it just for you. Because I love you."

"That's not love. You don't love me." I said starting to tear up. "I got on that shit because of you. Because you hurt me. And it ruined my life and you want to bring it back? You're sick. I hope you rot in hell."

He started inching in closer and grabbed me by my waist forcing me into a kiss. I tried pushing him away but he was too big.

When he finally released, he put the small box in my hands and left without saying another word.

I stood there stiff with disgust as I heard footsteps approaching. I quickly wiped my tears away and put the box away in my purse as Maggie walked in.

"So did you like your gift? He never told me what he was giving you."

"Um...y-yeah. That was really nice of him." I said quietly.

"Well good. But it's obvious we need to go over some ground rules." Oh God. "I don't know how your other homes were, but here, we don't condone taking my car without permission, or leaving the house without telling anyone. You're my responsibility and we gave you a phone for a reason. So you can have your freedom and stay in contact with us. We love having you around but you must respect us." she lectured.

"Okay...I'm sorry."

"Go to your room." she demanded.

I rushed to my room and through my purse on the floor when the small box fell out.

Why would he come back?

How did he find me?

How did he get to Maggie?

Damn, this system is fucked up. I got up and picked the box up opening it.

Wow, there's really xanny in here.

It ruined my life before and I don't want it to happen again.

But I'll keep it.

Just in case.
