Chapter 17

This is a really big house, I had to jump the fence just to get into the yard. People aren't joking when they say you'd do anything for your child, because I'd never trespass and that's exactly what this is trespassing in a crazy chicks yard. At least I have a good reason though, she has my son, well we never confirmed that she did, but I know she did, I just have a strong feeling about it.

There's a light on in one of the rooms on the second floor, all the rest are off but the lamp in the living room. I'm walking aside the house pulling each window checking to see if it's open until the last one by the backyard balcony opened. I slowly pushed it up hoping that if she's in here she can't hear me. I got it up to a decent height before I jumped up only to be pulled back down.

"What the hell are you doing?" Austin yelled but whispered at the same time.

"What are you doing here?" I asked.

"Stopping you from doing something stupid" he said grabbing the keys from my hand and putting his car keys back into his pocket.

"How did you get here?" I asked.

"Don't worry about it and you do know you're trespassing right?" he asked.

"I know what I'm doing Austin" I said before hopping back up and falling into the house on the floor before he could grab me.

"Damn it" he murmured from outside before following in behind me.

"See how much noise you made" he whispered helping me up.

"It's your fault, I only jumped in because I knew you would've grabbed me" I said.

"Shhh and I'm stopping you because when you decided to leave instead of going to the bathroom and coming back like you said you would me, Robert and Alex checked up on her" he whispered walking slowly through the house with me closely behind him.

"So" I said.

"She's wanted in two states because she made an attempt to kill four women who had recently given birth like you, but your so hard headed and can't stay put until we figure things out" he said.

"Did you just call me hard headed?" I asked.

"Yes because you are, but she killed two of the four women. They can't find enough evidence to use against her in trial so they had no choice but to let her go, she got pregnant around the same time you did and the guy who did it left her. Then right before we came in she had her baby, but it died before she gave birth. So she went insane just like she did before and decided to wait until you gave birth and take Carter" he breathed "This is why I tell you to listen to everything before you go off and do something"

"I'm sorry" I said.

"It's fine, I'm glad we're together and you're not alone anymore" he breathed as we reached the top of the steps.

"Ditto Mahone" I said latching onto his arm.

"How long ha-"

"Do you hear that?" I whispered.

"The baby" he said before stopping you dead in your tracks and pulling you back into him.

You looked back up at him and he pointed to the room, you looked over and watched her walk out of a room and into a brightly lit one as she picked Carter up and rocked him back and forth.

"You miss your daddy don't you?" she hummed walking over to her phone.

He squirmed over and over before he started to tear up. She tried rocking him back and forth, but her dumb butt would know if she were his real mom that he only does that when he has to burp. She's clueless so I wouldn't expect her to know that.
