Chapter 23

(Roberts POV)

"Shoot!" I said and she pulled the trigger firing at the target "Redo" I said after looking to see where it hit.

"Come on, this is like the 15th time already" she whined.

"When you get it right, you can stop" I said pacing the dirt trail watching as she positioned herself.

"Can we take a break then? it's really hot out here" she complained.

"We're in the mountains what do you expect?" I asked.

"Robert please" she said leaning over and placing her hands on her knees. I walked over and stood behind her.

"Stand up" I said and she slowly leaned up. I positioned her correctly and put my hands over hers aiming the gun as she giggled "Stop" I said and she looked over at me firing the gun and hitting the target perfectly.

"Nice" I said lowly "You're done"

We both walked back over to the car and jumped in to feel the cool air conditioning. I grabbed two water bottles from the back, tossing one to her. I quickly opened mine and drank half of it.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"No" I said pulling out my phone and typing a response to a message.

"Why not?" she asked.

"Because I said so" I said holding the bottle up to my bottom lip.

"Asshole" she breathed looking out the window.

"What?" I said looking up to her my eyebrows scrunched together.

"I said you're an-"

"Get out" I said and she looked at me confused "If I'm an asshole then you can get out of my car"

"Wait, No, I'm sorry" she pleaded.

"No since you wanna get an attitude, then you can find your way back home" I said pressing the button at the top of my IPhone to turn the screen off before sliding it into my pocket.

"No, I don't know how to get home, I'm sorry, don't leave me here" she said crossing her arms and looking down at her legs.

"Then stop acting like a bitch all the time" I said and she looked over at me in shock before smirking.

"But you like it though" she said turning completely to face me.

"Believe whatever you want to, but we need to head back it's getting late" I said.

"I will and okay" she said before I nodded and pulled off back down the dirt road.

(Austins POV)

"Daddy can I have some ice cream?" she asked.

"Have you eaten any today?" I asked looking down at my phone screen as Robert's message appeared.

"No, I haven't" she said.

"Yes she has" (Y/N) said walking in with Carter.

"Then no you can't have any" I said sending the message, locking my phone screen, and sliding it onto the table.

"You're such a meany" she said picking up my phone before throwing it at the wall.

"Maddie no-" I said as my phone cracked against the wall and fell to the floor "You know what"

"Mommy!" she screamed backing away before I grabbed her. She tried to kick and squirm, but I had a firm grip on her. My hand swatting her bottom repeatedly, I stopped as soon as she broke into tears. I let her go and she ran over to (Y/N).
