I can't believe my eyes. I'm home after this terrible day I had behind me and the first thing I see is Downey sitting peacefully on my couch and watching TV. It's unbelievable how much he makes my blood boil.
"You look like you've seen a ghost" he says calmly.
"Are you out of your mind? Why are you still here?" I ask aggressively.
"I tried to leave but it seems that I parked illegally last night and my car was picked up. As I already said, I don't have a wallet which means I couldn't call a taxi so my only option was to stay here"
"I don't care, I don't want you here" I say in a very unfriendly way.
"Fine, drive me home then" he suggests and I laugh.
"Yeah, so your wife can see first hand where you've been and with who" I say sarcastically.
"You'll leave me a block away. I can't walk this far"
"You should've thought of that before you drove your drunk ass here" I sigh.
"Baby, you love my ass, you're glad I drove it here" he smirks.
"Don't call me that" I say abruptly.
"You had no problem with me calling you that this morning. What is it? You only like it when you're horny?" I can't deal with him anymore.
I put my glass down and walk quickly to the couch where he's laying at. I grab his hand and pull him on his feet.
"You're leaving, now" I say looking into his eyes.
"Your attempt on being bossy is cute but I've said before that I don't like being ordered around" he says deeply.
"It's my house, Downey. Whether you like it or not I make the rules here"
"Is that what this is about? You want to be in charge?" he licks his lips seductively.
"You're disgusting" I say with an expression that matches my words.
"Let's agree that I'm so disgusting, then why are you still screwing me? What does that make you, huh?" he clentches his jaw and looks me straight in the eyes.
"You think I'm proud of myself? I hate myself for everything I've done with you. But most importantly I hate myself because you have a wonderful wife who's worried as hell for you and I had to lie to her face" I'm filled with anger, I'm shaking.
"You saw Susan?" he asks focused on me.
"She came by the office to find you" I say quietly.
"What did you tell her?" I'm not sure if he's asking me or threatening me.
"I just told you I lied to her. I told her I hadn't seen you and I reassured her that you're alright. She thinks something happened to you, she's been trying to reach you all day" I gulp feeling the guilt.
"Good girl, you want me to reward you for that?" he asks and places his lips on my neck.
He really gets under my skin at times like this. It's like I can't control my actions. Most of the times I end up falling for him but that's over. He's a piece of shit. I keep him away from me with my hands but I see that he still thinks I'm falling for him again.
"I actually felt sorry for you last night, I'm such a fool. I should've kicked you out like I intended to"
"Thankfully you didn't do that and now here we are. So why don't we make the best out of it?" he proceeds to kiss me but I manage to hold him back.
"You decided to suddenly play hard to get?" he exhales angrily.
"There's nothing sudden about this. You caught me off guard yesterday but that's not happening again. Go to your wife before she calls the police thinking you're dead somewhere" I shake my head.
"She's fine, I talked to her a few minutes ago" he says like it's nothing.
"What did you tell her?" I'm now the one to ask.
"None of your business, Ms. Beck"
"It is my business if you mentioned anything about me" I say furiously.
"What do you think I am? A moron? Of course I didn't say anything about you" he chuckles.
"Fine, then get the hell out of here" I say and walk away from him.
"I already told you I can't leave by myself. Is it so hard for you to drive me home?" he's serious.
"Yes, it is. Do you have all your stuff on you?" I ask but I'm pretty sure that everything he came with is on him.
"Yes, why?" he replies after checking his pockets.
I go to my purse, take some money out of my wallet and put it in his pocket. I also see the bottle he brought with him and give it to him as well.
"Then call a taxi" I open the door for him and he bites his lip amusingly.
"You'll let me leave like that?" he smiles for some reason that only he knows.
"Exactly" I ironically smile back at him.
"C'mon, you don't mean that" he says sweetly thinking that he can convince me.
"Yes, I do" I say smiling, but this time meaning it.
He doesn't seem to believe me so I decide to push him outside the door. Thankfully he didn't fight me back, it was more like he read my mind and got out by himself.
"Goodbye, Downey" I say and shut the door.
I didn't wait for him to answer, I don't care what he has to say. He was looking at me in a satisfied, yet disappointed way but I didn't wait to see which one stayed until the end.
I took a deep breath and continued with getting out of my work clothes. It wasn't long after when I heard my phone ringing. I looked at the screen and my stomach immediately tightened. It was Malcolm. I've been treating him shitty all day and he has no idea why. He's right to want an explanation. I prepare myself for this and answer the call.
He sounded worried. He asked if everything's okay and if he did something wrong. It even crossed his mind that I avoided him because he got a little carried away last night. He's so nice and all I did was betray him. I didn't lie to him and say that everything's fine. He's not an idiot, he knows it's not.
We finally agreed to meet and discuss about it. He was the one to suggest it and I had no right keeping this away from him. I don't want to lie to him and I definitely don't want to tell him this over the phone so I agreed. He's coming to my house later and until then I have to find the courage to tell him everything. I don't want to lose him but I certainly don't deserve him after what I've done.
All I can do now is face the consequences.
