A few days went by and just like agreed with Downey I didn't make any other plans with Susan. It's not like she kept suggesting things for us to do but there were a couple of things she invited me to but I found excuses to refuse. We had one face to face interference when she came by the office but other than that we just exchanged some texts every now and then. She's truly amazing and I would be more than happy to be her friend under other circumstances.
My relationship with Malcolm is going better and better. We're more and more comfortable around people and we've started having sex which is great. He's very sweet yet very intense during it and always takes good care of me. I'm actually feeling very satisfied with my life right now. My job is in order, I have a relationship with someone great and there's not any kind of drama going on with my friends or with him.
I must've scared him a lot with my unexpected visit to his house because the outcome was him not even stepping close to me. I actually hadn't said a word to him all week, I've barely even seen him.
I hear a knock on my door and when I welcome the person in I see it's Downey's assistant. She smiles at me and stands just next to the door, not even coming inside when she opens it.
"I'm leaving for my lunch break, Mr. Downey told me to let you know he wants to see you back in his office" she says kindly.
"Thank you, Claire. Enjoy your break" I smile at her and after she shuts the door I sigh.
I hope this is something work related. I prepare myself mentally and with steady confident steps I reach his office. I knock on the door before entering and shut the door behind me. Downey's going through some files in his library but decides to stop when he sees me. Without saying a word he points at the chairs in front of his desk so I take a seat. He doesn't sit down, he stands against the side of his desk, looking right down at me.
"I thought we had an agreement" he says and I must say he sounds angry.
"Excuse me?" I ask not understanding why he's angry.
"You told me you'd stop hanging around with my wife. If I'm not mistaken this is not the case" he fold his arms sending away pissed bossy vibes everywhere.
"Sorry to let you know but you are indeed mistaken. I said no to everything Susan suggested" I defend myself.
"Do you really think I'm that stupid?" he chuckles but not in a happy way.
"I know you've been texting all this time and I know that when she came here you spent some time together" he's really upset about this."I can't ignore her, Downey. First of all, she doesn't deserve that and second, I'm not that type of person. If I don't have an excuse I can't just cut people off my life immediately. I'm certain she understands I'm drifting off slowly"
"Well, I don't want you to drift off slowly, I want it to be done immediately" he groans.
"So you want me to never text her back again and not talk to her when she comes here again? Are you insane?" it's my turn to chuckle.
"I might as well be, but you're not keeping your end of the deal. I gave you time, I haven't bothered you at all but Susan just can't seem to stop mentioning you"
"It's not my fault that your wife finds me more interesting than any other topic you want to talk to her about" I shrug.
He sighs deeply and throws some stuff from his desk to the floor furiously. He runs his right hand through his hair and comes behind me resting his arms on each side of the chair. He spins me around to face him and looks me in the eyes.
"This madness stops now" he orders.
"I agree. Calm your nerves and then you'll see how much you're overreacting" I say casually and stand up.
