lloyd jay kai cole zane nya

a few hours earlier

zane was seated across from jay at the lunch table before he mysteriously left. he had muttered something to the table and walked to the nearest bathroom. not too long after he saw kai walk into the same restroom. zane didn't think much of it at the time. he was too invested in his spicy noodles and rice.

nya, kai's sister sat beside him, along with their other friends, skylor and derek.

the noodles were of high quality for being bought at the convenience store down the street. he checked the label on the cup after taking a few bites. he could've sworn that he'd grabbed the spicy ones but he couldn't taste it. the label confirmed that the noodles were in fact spiced.

besides their lack of taste, they were also oddly cold even though zane had heated them. he wasn't that bothered by it, it was just extremely weird.

"are these spicy?" zane asked nya who looked up from her books. she examined the label before speaking.

"obviously, look at the label smartie." she laughed.

"no, i mean, try them,"

"yeah, definitely spicy, a little cold though." she coughed after trying one, "why?"

"nothing." zane mumbled, nya resumed reading.

so he was going insane. he stared at the dish, the others had started a conversation about their favorite places to eat. zane shrugged it off after a minute and resumed eating. he reached his chopsticks into the cup and moved his fingers to pick up some of the contents.

the chopsticks suddenly stopped moving. he tried moving them with his fingers harder before looking down.

the dish had frozen. and icy layer spread around the edges of the cup, the noodles were frozen in place as the soup that surrounded them had stilled.

now, zane's friends, especially jay, had nicknamed him the robot since he always seemed to know everything and could withstand extreme temperatures to a certain degree. yet still he couldn't think of a reason as to why his lunch had froze.

he stared down into the cup with wide eyes before looking up and making sure none of his friends had noticed.

they were too busy conversing to care when he suddenly stood and walked away from the table. he took his lunch with him along with his bag and phone.

he pulled out his phone to text the one person he knew would know at least something. his girlfriend, pixel.

although he only knew her through texts and calls, she was one of the smartest people he knew. she would definitely have an exclamation. she lived in a different country so they had never seen each other in real life. they had met on a discord for programming late night a few months ago.

zane took out his phone and began typing.

helpful, zane sighed as he walked down the empty halls looking for his locker. he stared at the noodles, still not processing the events of earlier.

yes i did make zane a human bc hell yeah !! also pixel  is his internet gf and everyone thinks he's lying about her. is she real or not ?? who knows...
