At the feeling of his hands on her ass, Sam snapped out of her trance. Shoving her palms forward she ripped herself out of Liam's arms, falling into a crouched position on the ground. Slowly rising, she let her anger fuel her, her frustration at Liam's apparent disregard for her choices and his willingness to just throw himself at her. Finally standing, she turned on him, her eyes glowing red.

"What. The. Fuck." Her voice dripped in anger and was tinged with her Alpha dominance as she growled the words. Liam cowered back. She may not be the official Alpha but as a previous Omega, Liam couldn't help but feel submissive in front of her. Deciding that he didn't deserve a chance to explain himself, she ripped the bathroom door open and slammed it behind her, leaving Liam feeling confused, guilty and pathetic.

A half-hour later, Sam finally emerged from the bathroom, clean and dressed in high-waisted denim shorts and a fitted crop top. Her bedroom was empty.

The shower had given time for her anger to subside and when she'd finally felt calm, she couldn't help but try and work out why Liam had acted the way he had. He was acting the same way as he did that night after he told us about Varshini, but I stopped him then so why didn't he just assume that it wouldn't work this time. Maybe I led him on by opening up to him? Sam immediately stopped that train of thought. Opening up to someone and telling them about yourself is a sign of emotional closeness and friendship, so no you didn't lead him on, she forcefully reminded herself But maybe he thought that I'd only turned him down because I'm friends with Varshini, and so he assumed that trying later would be successful? Or maybe he thought he could get away with it because I'm in heat? Or maybe... and this seems most likely knowing Liam... he thought that I'd refused him because I was worried that when he found out about me, I assumed he would reject me, so he thought that now I'd opened up, nothing would stop me from giving in to him... Sam sighed. If that's the case I need to talk to him. She needed to explain to him the thing she had realised in the shower.

Wandering out of her room, Sam stopped in front of Liam's door. She took a deep breath, calming her nerves. She would never understand herself, she could go into battle without flinching, but anything necessitating a conversation about emotions or her past made her immediately fearful and wary. Forcing herself to breathe, she reached out a hand and opened the door. Liam's smell hit her, the soft scent of pine trees, and the steamy memories from moments before invaded her mind. Shit, she hadn't realised how much that kiss had impacted her. Peering around, she noticed that despite the smell, the room was empty. Maybe he's in Aiden's room.

Sure enough, as she opened the door to Aiden, she was met by a combination of both their scents, the vanilla and cinnamon of Aiden softly blending with the pine trees, creating an intoxicating aroma that made her want to closer her eyes and bathe in the scent. She walked over to Aiden who was playing on the PlayStation, sprawled out in his favourite bean bag.

"All ok princess?" Aiden's eyes momentarily left the screen to look over at Sam

Motioning towards the bed with her eyes, where Liam lied, she asked,

"He asleep?"

"No," came the husky reply from the bed.

Sam made her way over to the bedside.

"I'm sorry." Liam's words came before she had the chance to say anything. Realising he probably didn't want to talk about it, she swallowed back her words, nodding slightly in recognition. Reaching out she squeezed his hand.

"No need to apologise, but thank you."

She turned to go sit beside Aiden, but Liam's hand gripped hers. He pulled her down onto the bed, holding her in a bear hug.
