Dr. Life POV
To my surprise, a young woman emerged from the shadows, appearing to be the same age as myself. While mortals perceived me as a seventeen-year-old, in angelic terms, I had lived for trillions of mortal years, equating to twenty-five in angel years. Now, at thirty-six angel years old, I observed the young woman who seemed to be seventeen in mortal years, perplexed by the unmistakable angelic aura she exuded. Perhaps it was her beauty that radiated such celestial energy, I mused."What was her crime?" I inquired of the guard.
"She murdered a miner in a cave, witnesses claim she used black magic," the guard responded. The young woman murmured in a language known only to me, revealing, "He tried to kill my father."
In that moment, her true nature became clear to me.
"Thank you, you may leave us," I dismissed the guard.
"But my lord, she is dan—" the guard protested before I cut him off.
"I can handle this. Go about your duties," I insisted, relieved to shed the facade of sternness forced upon me in dealings with mortals, allowing my true demeanor to emerge.
Turning my attention to the young woman, I asked, "May I know your name, Miss?"
"Elizabeth Nefta," she replied with a stoic expression.
"Pleasure to meet you, Elizabeth Nefta. I am Friedrich von Life," I greeted her warmly, offering a smile.
She regarded me silently before speaking, "You don't seem to fear my black magic."
"Of course not. I know you mean me no harm, and your powers are restrained by the jewel around your neck," I reassured her, sensing her unease.
Her next question caught me off guard, "You are a man of high status, are you not?"
"I suppose you could say that. But why does it matter?" I replied, curious about her line of inquiry.
"Why have you come? To mock me or to personally end my existence for something I do not comprehend?" she asked, her voice tinged with uncertainty.
"No, I would never do such a thing. As the king of the Heaven Kingdom, it is my duty to ensure justice and protect the innocent. Mortals often fear what they do not understand, labeling anything outside their comprehension as witches or wizards. I have instructed every village and kingdom to notify me before taking action against individuals deemed witches or wizards, to prevent wrongful accusations and executions," I explained, noting a hint of regret in her demeanor.
"I apologize for my earlier remarks," she interjected before I could respond.
"It's alright," I reassured her, before she interrupted again.
"Am I innocent?" she questioned, her gaze searching mine for affirmation.
"Personally, I believe you are innocent. But I would like to hear your side of the story," I replied, extending an invitation for her to share her truth.
