Elizabeth Nefta POV
As we neared the kingdom and its majestic palace, the cheerful sight of children playing and adults going about their daily activities imbued the air with a sense of tranquility.
Villager: "Welcome back, Fred. How was the trip?"
Dr. Life: "It was wonderful."
Elizabeth Nefta: "Fred? I thought you said your name was Friedrich?"
Dr. Life: "It is. Fred is just a nickname the people use."
Children ran up to the chariot, eager to greet Dr. Life.
Child 1: "Welcome back, sir! How was the village?"
Dr. Life: "It was great. Maybe one day you'll be able to visit too."
Child 2: "Who is she?"
Dr. Life: "She's a guest. She's Nefta's lost daughter."
Child 3: "Really? You found her? Should we tell her?"
Dr. Life: "Well, I always keep my promises, don't I? And don't tell her yet. I want it to be a surprise."
Child 2: "Okay, sir. Have a nice day."
Dr. Life: "You too, and don't get into trouble."
Elizabeth Nefta: "They seem to like you, the people and kids."
Dr. Life: "Yeah, I guess they do."
Suddenly, a woman's scream pierced the air.
Elizabeth Nefta: "What was that?"
Dr. Life leaped out of the chariot and dashed ahead with astonishing speed, prompting me to follow suit. When we arrived, we found a woman bleeding profusely while onlookers tried to aid her.
Mysterious Voice: "Don't even try. The bleeding will never stop."
A sinister voice echoed through the crowd as we turned to see a demon-like creature restrained by Angel Guards.
Dr. Life: "Take him to the prison. I'll deal with him later. And you, get her to the infirmary!"
As we made our way, I followed Dr. Life into the grand palace, where we were greeted by a distinguished Angel of high status.
Dr. Life: "Gabriel, bring the demon to the throne room. I'll deliver the judgment myself."
Turning to me, Dr. Life offered, "You can rest in one of the guest rooms if you want. Cassie will guide you there."
Elizabeth Nefta: "No, I want to see what happens."
Dr. Life nodded, leading us into a spacious room with a magnificent throne. Dr. Life took his seat and conjured a chair for me beside him, preparing to address the situation.
Dr. Life: "Bring in the prisoner."
The imposing doors swung open, revealing two Angels escorting the chained demon.
Dr. Life: "State your name, demon."
Astron Nefaral: "I am Astron Nefaral, prophet to the great and almighty Lucifer Agadon von Death. I have committed this deed in his name, and he will be satisfied with what I have done."
Elizabeth Nefta's thoughts raced as Dr. Life responded with a hearty laugh.
Dr. Life: "Gabriel, what is this demon's status?"
Gabriel: "He is of the lowest rank, one of Lucifer's worshippers."
Dr. Life: "Astron Nefaral, you have committed heresy against my people, yours, and have besmirched my brother's name. Not to mention, you attempted to kill one of my people. I could punish you myself, but I have a better idea."
With a swift motion, Dr. Life opened a portal and seized the demon by the collar.
Dr. Life: "I'll leave the punishment to my brother. Shall we?"
He ushered us through the portal, emerging into another throne room. There, seated upon a grand throne, was a formidable figure with a woman at his side.
Dr. Death: "Life, what brings you here to disturb our sleep? Didn't the guards inform you?"
Dr. Life: "The portal is in the throne room, not the hallway, brother. By the way, it's nice to see you again."
Dr. Death: "The pleasure is all mine. But do tell, what is so important that you would teleport straight to my throne room?"
As Dr. Life explained the situation, the demon was condemned to eternal suffering by Lucifer himself.
Elizabeth Nefta's thoughts raced as she absorbed the revelation: Lucifer is Dr. Life's brother.
Dr. Life: "We must be going. Farewell, brother."
Dr. Death: "Goodbye, dear brother."
Dr. Life: "Adios, amigos."
Elizabeth Nefta: "Goodbye."
As we departed, I felt a mix of emotions swirling within me. Our journey continued through the portal and back to the palace.
Dr. Life: "This will be your room now. There are plenty of clothes in the closet. You'll be staying here for a while. I hope that's okay with you."
Elizabeth Nefta: "That's fine."
Dr. Life summoned Cassie, who appeared with a look of astonishment upon seeing me.
Cassie: "Liz, is that you?"
Elizabeth Nefta: "I guess."
Dr. Life: "Cassie, this is your sister, Elizabeth. I found her in a local village."
Cassie's eyes widened in disbelief before she composed herself.
Cassie: "Thank you, sir."
Dr. Life: "I'll be in the training area if you need anything."
Elizabeth Nefta: "Okay, thanks."
As Dr. Life departed, I turned to Cassie, the reality of our reunion sinking in.
Elizabeth Nefta: "So, you're my sister."
Cassie enveloped me in a warm hug.
Cassie: "Welcome back, sis. Mom will be so happy to see you."
Elizabeth Nefta: "Cas... Our mom is dead."
Cassie's expression turned to shock and grief as I delivered the news.
Cassie: "What?"
Elizabeth Nefta: "She was killed by a demon when we arrived. She died in the infirmary a few minutes ago."
Tears welled up in Cassie's eyes as anger surged within her.
Cassie: "What? Where is that demon? I'll make him suffer—"
I interrupted her with a somber truth.
Elizabeth Nefta: "Lucifer already damned him to eternal agony."
Cassie's rage softened into sorrow as she grasped the gravity of the situation.
Cassie: "Okay... You should really change and take a bath."
Only then did I realize I was still wearing the prison clothes.
Elizabeth Nefta: "Oh, I forgot."
After freshening up and changing into a dress, I ventured to the training area to find Dr. Life, where he was honing his skills with a bow and arrow, or so I thought.
