The Kingdom of Etherna: Return of the Prophesied Queen

Chapter 6- Captive

“Looking for me, big foot!”, she revealed herself from hiding at the big oak tree. She catch their attention, that’s her plan. They are now facing her not the ground. She was relieved thinking her aunt will be spared.

“Catch her”, the soldier said. She run as fast as she can, while the soldier was following her. Her eyes adjusted to the darkness of the night, she was used to the forest, every part of the forest is her training ground and her playing ground.

While she can easily dodge the big lying trees and big rocks, the soldiers were tumbling down in the forest ground. She thanked the forest as she run, it saved her from those soldiers. She’s still running from the soldiers when she realized no one is following her. She run slower than what she did a while ago. She gasped for air, she didn’t realized how tired she is until now. She lie on the ground because of exhaustion. But it is not the time to relax, she forced herself to stand, but before she can fully stand, a tall shadow figure towered her petite figure, then before she knew it, she was hit in her head. Her eyes became blurry, she touched her aching head and blood covered her hands, then darkness consumed her.

Her body was waving like a waves of the shore. She thought she’s dead and now she’s floating in the sea, but when she opened her eyes, she realized she’s lying inside a wooden cell carriage dragged by the horses.

Her head is spinning and still bleeding. She roamed her eyes in the small dirty cell and then she saw three other girls on every corner of the cell. They were crying but not as bad as she looks like. She’s a mess with blood flowing her head and mud all over her body. Then everything came back to her mind, her aunt and everything that happened that night.

“What day is today, what’s the time now?” she asked the girls, but no one replied. She didn’t know how many days has it been, how is her aunt doing, is she safe, did she get out form the pit hole, those are the things that lingers in her mind when a girl answered her question.

“It’s been two days since you were put in this cell”, the eyes of the girl were out of coverage then she looked at her.

“I’ve been in this cage, a day before you”, she continued.

“You fought back, that is why you have those injuries? Right?” she asked. She nodded her head and looked away. Then she remembered her bag and her sword. She was relieved seeing her bag lying on the floor and her sword still tucking at the side of her boots.

She carefully examine her bag if everything is in place. Her clothes, food and the book are still there. It made her breath deep, like a thorn has been plucked from her heart. She was relieved, before tying her bag again, she noticed a sparkling thing, it made her eyes blind for a while.

When she examined it, it is a necklace, the necklace her aunt gave to her last time, she didn’t realize the form of the necklace because the night was so dark that time, now she has a full access of its feature. The necklace is beautiful, it is silver in color and the pendant has a very familiar design. The pendant is a combination of sun and moon. The Crescent moon engraved above the sun, but there is something else. The center of pendant has a dragon engraved in it. It is very unique design. She remembered the book and saw the pendant and the design engraved at the back cover of the book is the same somehow, only the dragon in the book back cover is under the race of the combination of the crescent moon and sun.

What does this symbol means? Why is it always associated with me? She asked herself, her thoughts were interrupted when the girl who answered her question earlier asked her.

“What is that? Is that a necklace? You better hide that, before the soldiers noticed it and get it from you, it seems worth a good money,” she said. She nod to her and hid it under her boots. This way, the soldiers cannot take it away from her.
