Book 2: "Against Everyone"

Shane POV

"I'll take you home."

That's all I manage to say while wiping the blood that has been bothering my eyes.

"Thank you."

She mumble quietly with her lips trembling. She keeps fidgeting her fingers and couldn't look me in the eyes.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

"When we get home, yes."

I nod and let her enjoy the comfortable silence we had while paving the way to her cozy house. It doesn't take us long until I park my car in front of her house. We both unbuckled our seatbelt and hop out. She unlocked the gate and usher me to follow her. I picked up Jasmine playing on the couch.

She disappeared from my sight, but when she came back she had her first aid kit box. Jasmine is on my lap playing with my fingers, she sat on the carpet while facing me. Without uttering any words, she reach out my forehead that has small cut and bleeding. She clean it and applied something that smells like a mint. I flinch when she applied a bit force to put the small band aid on it. 

She touch my lips and remove the blood clot using the white cotton. The contact of her fingers to my lips manage to sent chilly sensations. I gulp when she lean in to apply something on my lower lip.  Her strawberry scent stuck in my nostrils and the proximity of our faces didn't help to calm the inner beast inside me.

"All done."

"Thanks."

She fix the stuff and made her way upstairs to bring back the kit. It doesn't take her long enough to come back and sat on the couch opposite to mine.

"I don't even know that guy and I honestly don't know how-"

I cut her off when I noticed how uncomfortable she was talking the unexpected encounter while ago.

"He's Calvin, my oldest brother. And if you hear everything while ago that's exactly why he's harassing you."

I close my eyes to calm my nerves. No matter how I thought of anything, Calvin just drive me so mad at this point.

"Thank you."

I was taken a back when she said that. I was expecting her to be mad at me cause technically my own brother just harassed her in public.

"You shouldn't said that, he's my brother you should have mad at me-"

She cut me abruptly and shook her head.

"Right, he's your brother but that doesn't mean you're like him. You never treated me like that. And how can I pay you? You've done lots of things for me, on top of it five million dollars wasn't that easy to just give it to somebody like that."

"Is that why you look gloomy? Because of that five million dollars?"

I chuckled at her reaction, she fidgeted her fingers out of her habit whenever she's nervous.

"How could you expect me to not think about it. You wasted your money for me, and you work hard for it."

"First of all, I wouldn't mind spending all my money to you, you're a friend green eyes. I couldn't just let anybody treated you like that even my own brother. Second stop overthinking, you don't owe me anything, I didn't ask you to pay. And last to let you sleep without torturing yourself from guilt, I earn billion dollars a day so five million isn't that big okay?"
