A lone figure stood on a balcony, head laid down upon their arms. The platform overlooked a vast lake that sparkled in the moonlight. The faint sound of an instrumental played from a small phone, held tightly in the grasp of a slick tendril. The figure sang.
"Wise men say..."
The melodic voice drifted into the night air, intertwining with the wordless music in the background. The figure's line cyan eye focused on the moon above. It was full. Just like how the figure was full of longing. Sorrow. Heartache.
"Only fools rush in.."
Tendrils moved aimlessly near the hard stone of the balcony, swaying to the tune. Animals nearby stopped and listened. The water in the lake below shone, lighting up dark figure.
"But I can't help..."
The light made the cold night brighter. Better. Calmer. Just like someone this figure knew would do.
"Falling in love with you..."
The phone shut off, the batter life on it finally dying out once and for all. The figure sighed, lifting their head and leaving the balcony they've visited many times before. But they stopped. Another stood before them. "Nightmare..." They cooed gently, a sad look in their hollow eyes as they opened their arms. The other bit back a sob as they jumped forward, encasing their new beloved in their hold. Tendrils wrapped around crudely, too overcome by emotion to care.
"It's okay, Nighty, it's okay, I'm here..."
"I won't leave you like they did."

BEFORE YOU CALL ME OUT, YES!! I know this was cheesy and I, myself, have always thought the format was weird, but,,,, I just,,,, I saw a headcanon that Nightmare can sing and I had to add on and make it to where he would sing love songs if he's too nervous to actually confess,,,,

I've been writing too much fluff in my Nightcest chapter,,,, I needed feels smh
Also Ink broke up with Nightmare and it hurt his negative feelies so now he just sings sad songs on his tall porch. Killer helps him get over him tho uwu
