Blake's POV-
I look to the white envelope in my hands, the curly handwriting littered across it only makes my chest ache in Jessie's departure. I rip it open, suddenly frantic to learn what is inside. I pluck three items from it each one folded in half, masking their contents. I unfold the first to reveal a pencil drawing. A body bent over a guitar; face hidden by curls that fall over their eyes. I know who it is though, Jessie's precise pencil strokes clearly sketch my figure at work. Her name is signed at the bottom with a small note,
"Follow your dreams, even if you don't know what they are yet."
I chuckle at her philosophical message and move onto the second page. Unfolding it to find the now familiar writing of the girl that had just left me behind.
Blake,
I'm sorry that we had so little time together. Sometimes I think about where we would be if we had met earlier, but then I remember all the amazing things we've experienced in such a short time and I'm glad we met when we did.
You opened my eyes to so many things. You taught me that life isn't just about looking out for the people you love, but also going after the things you want the most. You pushed me to look further forward. To think past today and tomorrow and to the future.
I'm sorry again for posting the video of you singing but I sure as hell don't regret it. Your talent is beyond anything I can imagine, and I don't think you understand that quite yet, but that's ok. Life is all about learning. I need you to know that I did something and now that I'm hopefully a safe distance away from you, I can tell you what it is.
Those music people that called you that day in the park. I called them back. All they want to do is talk Blake, and all I ask is for you to listen. This opportunity is amazing, and I just want the best for you. If you really think it's not for you that's fine but give it a go, I have a feeling it'll be worth it.
There's a big world out there and as scared as we all might be to venture into it, we have to at least try. That's why I'm going where I'm going. I want to see what it's all about and hopefully you do too.
Don't forget me, ok? I'll be back before you know it.
I love you,
Jessie x
The final piece of paper falls from the letter and I look down to find a rather official looking contract staring back at me.
"Holy shit." I mutter, Jake and Kia look to me in confusion.
"What?" They ask slightly concerned.
"I think Jessie got me a record deal." I laugh.
