Part 20

Sohyul: Thank you for walking me home...

Yohan: Its 8pm... I wouldn't let you walk in the dark..

Sohyul nodded and walked into the gate, closing it afterwards. She heard a something, and her heart beat sped up. She smiled, although she had no courage to say it back. "Love you!" Yohan had yelled over the gate, but she didn't go into her home instead she got out the back door, and walked to the bus stop.

It was midnight and Mel opened her front door to see Sohyul, she lived in an enclosed neighborhood on a cliff, and hers just happened to be on the tippy top of it.

Mel: What are you doing here? It's so late at night! Did you even go home?!

Sohyul sighed clutching the straps of her backpack and looked at her with sad eyes.

Sohyul: I didn't know who else to talk to...

Mel nodded and Sohyul grabbed her hand, leading her to the edge of the cliff. Sohyul let go and dangled her legs over the cliff.

Mel: Hey! You might fall!

Sohyul looked at her unbothered and patted the space beside her. Mel sighed before sitting next to her without being so close to the edge.

Mel: What's wrong?

Sohyul: Do you think I deserve to be loved?

Mel put Sohyul's arm on her shoulder and hugged her, patting her back to give comfort as Sohyul felt her tears trickle down her face and onto Mel's clothes.

Mel: Why are you crying mh? Why would you ask such a question? Of course you are. Everyone deserves to be loved.

Sohyul cried.

Sohyul: I'm sorry... I'm just so tired of pretending I'm okay when I'm not.

Mel: Then don't pretend.

Sohyul: I'm still so scared....

Mel: Of people leaving you?

Sohyul sniffed and nodded in Mel's arms. She felt better being in Mel's arms it reminded her of her brother's love and Mel was like a sister to her. Of course Mel could never fill in Dohyun's space in her heart but she knew that if Mel had also left the world for good, she would have no other reason to stay alive.

Mel: I promise I'll never leave you...

Sohyul: You promised that before and broke it...

Mel gulped feeling guilty, she felt like it was her fault Sohyul had turned out like this. Not being able to trust anyone because she had broken a promise not to leave Sohyul alone.

Mel: I'm really sorry! If I-I had known my absence would have taken such a toll on your well-being even when you had your friends to rely on I wouldn't have listened to my mother and stayed!

Was all Mel could choke out of her tears. Sohyul noticed when the tears fell on her head.

Sohyul: The outcome of you leaving may not have been good but I'm glad... you came back.. your the only family I have left.. your basically my sister.

Mel stroked Sohyul's hair as if Sohyul was still the small child cuddled in her embrace in the past. She missed Sohyul's wide smile and loud voice. The toddler that would cry when she fell off her bike and immediately stop and smile after getting into Mel's arms. She wiped her own tears.

Mel: You'll forever be my little sister. So if you feel scared again, I guess you can have comfort in knowing that..

Sohyul hummed in response, and said "What if I jumped off this cliff?" Mel shook her head. "If you do that, I don't think I'd move on. Also, you'd leave Yohan behind, he might not move on." Sohyul nodded. "I guess your right." "You sound down saying that...."

Sohyul just shrugged her heart feeling heavy. She tried to control it so Yohan wouldn't feel anything but she couldn't. "I'm trying to get used to having a soulmate.. and it's becoming really hard." Mel then asked "Why? The bond would've had you both inseparable by now." Sohyul shook her head.

"It's really hard... because I try to look so strong infront of him when I just want to break down and cry. I want to tell him what's wrong with me and my past because I'm supposed to trust him but I can't. Also this fuzzy feeling inside whenever I see him scares me!"
Mel smiled. "Love isn't easy. Love is scary."

Sohyul felt another round of tears form in her eyes and Mel kept her arms around her tight. "The thought of him leaving me like my whole family did and you.... scares me. I trust he wouldn't leave me but I have doubts because of everything I don't know about him. He knows everything about me except for my past but me... all I know is his name and what he wants to be in the future." Mel sighed.

"Don't worry. Love takes time. You'll trust him more when you both open up to each other. No matter how long that may take." Sohyul nodded and wiped her tears, pulling herself out of Mel's embrace. "I'm going inside... I'll sleep in my room. Also, I forgive you.. I realized that one day you'll have to replace my brother and I hope I won't stop you from doing that" Mel nodded and Sohyul smiled at her. Mel kept Sohyul's old bedroom in her house incase she ever came back.

Mel watched as Sohyul walked away, but she turned around. "Are you coming in?" Mel shook her head.

"I'll stay here for a bit." "Ok" and with that Sohyul walked into the house, leaving Mel in a sorrow of thoughts.

Mel: Do you have classes today?!

Mel yelled from the kitchen. Sohyul paused her movie on the T.V and shook her head even though she couldn't see it. Sohyul yelled back "NO!"

Then as she thought she was finally gonna have peace and quiet Mel yelled again. "YOHAN IS CALLING YOU! YOUR PHONE HAS BEEN RINGING IN THE KITCHEN FOR SO LONG COME GET IT!"

Sohyul groaned and got up to get her phone. She grabbed it and was about to swipe to answer but then hestitanted. She put her phone down and ruffled her hair.

Mel: Aren't you going to answer that?

Sohyul glared at her.

Mel: Yohan is probably just wondering where you are.

Sohyul rolled her eyes when her phone started ringing again and she answered it.

Sohyul: What in the hell do you want?

Yohan: Where are you?

Sohyul: Why?

Yohan: You weren't answering my calls.

Sohyul: Oh, I was just busy...

Yohan: Are you still busy? Wanna go out today?

Sohyul internally cursed because she wasn't really in the mood to feel butterflies in her stomach, also she had a movie to finish.

Sohyul: I don't know..

She could feel Yohan's cheeky smile happen when she felt the speed of his heartbeat suddenly increase.

Yohan: I'll just take that as a yes. Should I meet you there or Should I go to your house?

Sohyul sighed and glared at the wall because he wouldn't leave her alone.

Yohan: Ya know I can just tell your glaring right now.

Sohyul: Just shut up. I'll meet you there. Where are we going?

Yohan: Remember that cherry blossom park we went to?

Sohyul: Yea?

Yohan smiled though she could not see it.

Yohan: I'll meet you there at 3. Love you.

Sohyul felt a blush creep up her face and she hung up.

Sohyul: Mel! Do you have any of my extra clothes here!?
