Daniels POV
Amy and I are childhood friends. We recently had a huge fight and I'm pretty sure she hates me now. I caught her boyfriend making out with some girl in a classroom once our high school ended for the summer break, but she didn't want to listen to me.

*flashback*
"Gosh Daniel will you just for once believe me?! He isn't cheating and I know it!" She yelled.
"Amy for once just trust me! I saw him making out with another girl. Why won't you just believe me and listen to what I'm trying to say? He's bad for you and you're being dumb," I yelled back at her.
"You know what? Just forget about it. I love Josh! And if you can't see that then what sort of best friend are you?"
"The type of best friend that's telling you that he's bad for you! He's a terrible person and you shouldn't be with him!"
"Ugh I can't take this anymore! Talk to me when you're ready to accept my relationship with Josh." She walked outside of my house and slammed the door shut. Neither of my parents were there, but Christian, Tyler and Anna were. They all started consoling me, but all I wanted was for Amy to see that she's dating a douche and should be with someone else. Maybe even me.
*end of flashback*

And that brings us to now. Since the past few years I've been taking lifeguard courses, and this summer I can finally be a lifeguard at the beach. It's a good way to pass time honestly. I got up early, ate some toast and chugged a glass of apple juice before leaving for my summer job. It was kinda hard to focus on people at the beach with girls swooning all over the tower where I was stationed, but I managed. One of my other friends CJ was there, and I told her about what happened with Amy a few days ago.
"She'll come to her senses. Amy is just blinded by 'love'." She made air quotations.
"Yeah I know that but it's hard. She's my best friend. I can't bear to see her dating that idiot." I was looking at the boardwalk above. It was relatively high from the sea, and Amy and josh were there. They didn't look too happy though, I could see them yelling.
"I saw you making out with that girl just a few seconds ago! Don't lie to me josh," I heard CJ's voice from behind me, and I gave her a weird look.
"I took a lip reading class. Josh was literally making out with a girl in front of Amy, and she's pissed,"
I followed her gaze, and sure enough Amy and Josh were there, arguing at the end of the boardwalk, right next to the sea.
"Ten bucks says that it's the same girl from yesterday," I could guarantee it. And sure enough, that same girl was there, her arm wrapped around Josh's waist.
"AHA!! I knew it, she should have listened to me and she might has well have been dating me instead of that bitch—" I instantly covered my mouth and CJ smirked and laughed.
"Daniel has a crush!"
"Shut up CJ, you want me to go tell Matt at tower 3 that you like him too?" I smirked and she blushed.
"Oh shut up will you—" this time CJ got cut off. By a scream. We turned to the noise and saw Amy getting shoved by Josh at the end of the boardwalk, falling in the sea. What scared me was, Amy can't swim.
"CJ we gotta go, Amy can't swim!!" I screamed and ran outside, jumping on the lifeguard jet, with CJ right behind me. Switching on the motor quickly, the jet moved forward and we quickly made it to the location where Amy fell. Giving CJ control of the jet, I dived right it, finding Amy panicking under water. And then, she stopped moving. Her arms fell and mine wrapped around her, pulling her up. CJ took the jet back to shore and I swam-slash-walked back to shore carrying Amy bridal style, since we weren't that far from shore. It wasn't Long before Amy was lying down on the sand. We tried doing CPR but it wasn't working.
"Daniel wait. Her airways blocked." CJ opened Amy's mouth, and sure enough she swallowed some seaweed, probably when she was trying to breathe. She got up and coughed violently, spewing out water before her breathing got to normal again. The crowd that gathered around us started applauding for what CJ and I did, and we smiled at each other. It took Amy a few moments to realise that I was the one who saved her. Well to be fair CJ and I, but I was the one who dived into the water. She got up and walked to me, and kissed me harshly. CJ laughed a little and went back to our post. I kissed back immediately, and we slowly pulled away.
"You were right. I'm sorry." She looked into my eyes.
"Damn straight I was. The truth is Amy I love you, and it just hurt how you were with someone else. Especially someone who didn't deserve you,"
"I love you too, dork," she laughed and kissed me again.
"Now as much as I hate to leave you, I have a job to do and you should go home." I told her.
"Alright, see you later, oh wait before I go, will you be my boyfriend?"
I made a thinking expression and she smacked my arm, causing me to laugh.
"Of course I'll be your boyfriend, now you should go back home and change into some fresh clothes, I got a job to do," I gestured to my lifeguard uniform and kissed her on the forehead before she turned and walked away. I smiled and ran back to tower 1. Summer was off to a great start.
