Maybe two against one could make it, maybe it was the decisive moment of all that chaos... or maybe angel and demon had too much hope. They looked into each other's eyes for an instant and then went on the attack. They seemed intent on dancing, one shot followed and reinforced the other's shot, there was no second they weren't perfectly coordinated. At last something had changed, they were fighting together and they were pushing Risengard back, who was filling up with an increasingly blind fury, now attacking with pure homicidal instinct, inside him the hatred for the two in front of him was as vast as an ocean. He could not understand how they could dare to oppose, how they could defend such a rotten and corrupt world where there were no more pure souls. The sword penetrated his armor enough to wound him and make a beastly growl, he raised his sword and struck the weapon with which he had been wounded and sent it back to sender. With a midair leap Aziraphale took up his flaming sword. Crowley next to him caught his breath, but they should never have stopped because they gave another person time to enter the scene. Miro advanced, came out of the fighting crowd as if he were walking on a spring day. His face was serious, he had some superficial wounds, but otherwise he seemed to be all too healthy. He, like all the others, had undergone changes from the powers of the crystal, and once near Risengard you could see the new muscles under his skin and his new aura glowing even more brightly. "I hope I haven't missed the best part, I was busy fixing up a certain archangel, I don't know if you knew him," he smiled only on his last words, just as he threw a broken sword at their feet. Aziraphale's heart leapt, recognizing Gabriel's sword. Panic invaded his mind even as he tried to stay calm on the outside, how could it be? How could Gabriel have been defeated? Without a commander, the armies of heaven would have gone out of control. The angel had a slight tremor that stopped immediately, looked into those dark eyes and said nothing, because that was enough as a promise of revenge. "Crowley we must use the shards or we will never win," said the angel as he put his hand under his armor to look for the two shards. His heart lost a few beats when instead of the two masses you only hear one, he slowly pulled it out and turned to his demon which he immediately understood. It was over, everything that had been done until then had gone up in smoke, they only had one fragment and that wasn't enough. "Have you lost something?" grinned the monster in front of them as he lifted the stolen fragment to the sky, making it sparkle enthusiastically like a child. Aziraphale squeezed the piece so tightly that the glass cut the velvety skin and its blood began to drip on the ground, beating those endless seconds. The demon placed his hand on the angel's, trying to console him but now he felt only anger and despair. Aziraphale the guardian of Eden felt as helpless as the day of the fall of his beloved. He set the fragment in his hilt and the flames of his sword turned black. They seemed alive, climbing up the hilt and along the arm of their master who was now gaining new strength.Beside him Crowley watched him, inside himself he was destroyed. He knew that this was a difficult situation, but his bookseller would have a reaction, he would at least curse in his strange way, he would cry, he would show his feelings. Instead the Aziraphale in front of him remained motionless, like a Greek statue, immensely beautiful and immensely cold. All that story had brought the angel of judgment back to the surface and this terrified him more than the end of the world, because whoever he was was afraid that he no longer felt anything, neither fear nor love.
"We will not let you destroy this world! Neither now nor ever," said the angel in a firm voice, but would it really be so? Or was it just another lie? "Crowley, do you remember when we met during the Crusades?" the demon was banned, of all the moments they had shared must have reminded them of that terrible moment? Despite his thoughts, his body answered automatically with an emotionless yes. "Then let's begin" he didn't understand, it was slow and for this reason the being of the inferis cursed himself, there had been many crusades but only one in which they had fought side by side. He was thinking about when they had stolen the chalice of life from the hands of a hellish prince who was rather reluctant to let him take it. The only way they'd won was a stratagem learned from human warfare, maybe it could work. The angel sprang forward, pirouetting with his sword and leaving a fiery trail behind him, the blow he delivered on Risegard spared none of his energy, the earth sank and the opponent fell to his knees foaming with rage. Crowley had acted quickly and quietly, hurried after his companion and then disappeared. He had gone around the two and approached their backs, dodged a few arrows and prepared for the lunge that would pierce their enemy and the fragment, putting an end to all that madness. He almost smiled as he approached, as he felt the hope make its way into his heart. Instead, he was just in time to see the terrible spear hurtle towards him, and he managed to bend but not fast enough. He jumped up and struggled to pull himself together, blood gushed from the new wound on his side, it hurt, but at least he had managed to save himself. Seeing that scene Aziraphale had been distracted by his opponent, he managed to parry the sword but not to avoid the narrow iron around his neck. The ferocious growl that came out of Crowley took everyone by surprise as did his attack with his head down. He took the tip of the spear heedless of the wounds opening in his hands, hit Miro in the face and sent him far away. He took a deep breath and threw the spear with all the strength he had. If Risegard had not left Aziraphale, he would have ended up impaled, and he almost didn't. The two sides immediately reformed and were ready for the next move. Crowley fell to his knees in a twinge of pain. "How we're all having fun together, aren't we?" Miro laughed bitterly. The demon felt Aziraphale's gentle hand pass through his hair, smelled the angel's books and chocolate, looked up and saw all that the celestial had hidden. The gaze of those who are about to surrender. "I'm sorry, it's the only real chance we have" were the words that came out of the angel's rosy lips, then he saw his hand lightening towards the fragment he had set in the hilt, tearing it from its place and plunging it into his chest. Risengard and Miro had sprung forward and in a futile attempt to stop him and Crowley had rejected them but could not stop the angel from joining the fragment.A blinding light invaded the air, they were all forced to cover their eyes. When the light dimmed, the only thing everyone saw was the new celestial. His eyes had turned black, except for the blue corolla that stood helplessly out in that dark sea. The once white wings had turned a strange grey from the new feathers that resembled daggers. Around the blonde head there appeared an aoreola of black light that framed the face. A trickle of blood dripped from the hole where the armor and flesh once stood. There was something frightening in what they saw, it was like creating a new kind of storm. Aziraphale looked into Crowley's eyes and that was enough to make his infinite sadness visible, and it advanced towards him and helped him to get up. Crowley looked at that hand holding his and realized he was crying, the angel held him for a moment before letting him go."This doesn't change anything!" Rinsegnard's eyes were bloodshot, he was screaming his eyes out, "You're pathetic!" was the last thing he shouted as the fight started again. The earth trembled and every time one of them attacked a piece of the world shattered, the wind rose and lightning fell around them. Crowley and Miro also fought each other and unfortunately for the demon, his opponent had full access to the powers of the fragment.
