Hello everyone, I hope you have not forgotten me, I am the narrator of this story, I think it is necessary for me to point out some important things about possessions, especially about this. The first is that Aziraphale was drawing a perfect pentacle on the floor of Miss Anatema's cottage. The mastery with which he is drawing it may suggest that "someone" has used it more than once to call a certain demon to himself, but this does not really matter. The second thing is, Crowley was in the corner of the room watching the angel. In fact, what the demon was doing was not only staring, but also mentally preparing to leave his body and the states of euphoria, which the vision of a certain angel caused, could help him to change shape, which is not pleasant to do, and which can be described with the thought of the aforementioned demon "hurts more than a dent on the Bentley". Once he had reached the right state of mind for his possession, Newton Pulsifer was dragged into the staff and the show began.
The demon let himself be enveloped by the shadow that seemed to invade the room little by little and sat on the small rocking chair next to the library. His forked tongue licked his upper lip followed by the deep voice of the demon who was now showing off a language that no one here had ever heard. Aziraphale felt a thrill running through his back as he listened to the arcane words invade the air like the most beautiful of the melodies. The small house was not so happy to hear because it creaked and groaned like a wounded animal while the symbols of the pentacle wrapped the thin figure of the boy who was slowly rising in mid-air. Outside the time worsened in a few minutes, the air became heavy and electric. Two things happened, the first was that the light in the small house went out, but to tell the truth it went out throughout the village, according to there were two shifts of air. A moment later the human Newt fell to the ground heavily while an angel gently rested on the floor without making noise.
Shortly afterwards the lights went off again after having flickered for a while and illuminated the room. In the corner the body of the demon seemed to be asleep while the rocking chair was swinging lazily, Anatema advanced safely towards her boyfriend who smiled at her with kindness but when she touched him things were not as sweet. Crowley made his appearance. "Stay still! We don't need any more stress." The laughter came crystal clear from the angel who had watched the whole scene.
Newt-Crowley quickly climbed over the girl who was furiously pushing her glasses on her face, headed toward the angel. A tear was lining his face and he was about to fall to the ground. And yet he was smiling. Newt regained control and apologized to Anathema so quickly that the words fit into each other making it all incapable. Possession was just over and the two boys wanted to take their time to say goodbye but someone else didn't think it necessary. "Well, now we're ready, I think it's time for me to go." Aziraphale took the boy by the hand and took him to the exit, without even giving the two lovers time to greet each other. Crolwey didn't care much about the humans at the time, he cared about that hand shaking his own. After some effort he managed to convince the boy to let him control his body and had bound him in a corner. Now he was looking at those intertwined fingers, wishing he could hold them forever. Instead, he let them go when they arrived near Bentley, they had a job to do and this was no time to give in to feelings.
Newt-Crowley took the lead, they arrived at Paradise's headquarters just as the sun was rising. They parked their car around the corner of the building and calmly walked towards the building which was of an almost brutal grandeur over the surrounding ones. The only thing that was said before entering was the fruit of Crowley's mind. "Look at the angels'; ego, whatever they build must be obscenely big, who knows what they will have to compensate for?" he said giggling, turned to his angel ready for the usual redness on his cheeks and the warning, but one in the other arrived, Aziraphale smiled looking upwards. The entrance to the building was identical to the last time they were there, it hadn't changed since the previous months, the same bright, minimalist air that spread through every room, the same scent of cleanliness, the same sadness.
Aziraphale remained unusually silent as they proceeded up the stairs, smiled quietly, not a shadow of nervousness crossed his face. The demon was totally shocked, although from the outside he managed to seem calm in that body, the most total panic had invaded every inch of his mind. Something was definitely wrong, in all the years that Aziraphale had climbed the stairs of paradise had never been quiet, the demon knew well that the fact of getting back on the "home" sent him into a total panic. Often, while he was coming down, he heard him talking to himself with a freewheel as he repeated strange phrases that came from his books. Now it's time for total silence. The silence was not just about the chatter but it went deeper. She didn't feel anything, she just felt the emptiness. From her angel she felt no love, no sadness, no fear, no anxiety. Something was definitely wrong, where were the second thoughts, the warnings, and the comments on how much he preferred to go to dinner than to stay there?
In a short time they arrived at the floor of the offices that they crossed quickly without looking at anyone in the face. Many angels turned to them but no one spoke a word. A human and an angel continued one floor after another until they reached the floor entirely dedicated to the real doors to paradise. That plane was empty just like the last time there had been, or at least the last time Crowley had been there in the form of an angel, and now he was doing it in the form of a human, for a moment hesitated he felt that something was wrong. When she returned to look in front of her, a huge armoured door of the latest generation had appeared, the only thing that made her quite different was the shining white that covered her and the fact that she was standing in the middle of the most total void. He always thought paradise was exaggerated, but now he had proof. As soon as they tried to take a step towards the door, an angel with thick sideburns appeared, dressed in shining armor and holding a spear. Around him six other angels with the same estate but fewer sideburns surrounded them threatening. Crowley tried to hiss as a threat forgetting that he didn't have his body, the result of which was a saliva fountain that crossed the air to land on the soldier's armor. It all happened in an instant, the soldier moved with the grace of a classic dancer and made the spear in the air. The aforementioned spear stopped a few inches from the face of the demon just because Aziraphale had grasped it. Although the gatekeeper had been quick, compared to what Aziraphale had just shown to fade. Now a drop of sweat was forming on the forehead of the guardian who was babbling a kind of "I'm sorry" almost at the limit of crying. The demon was certain that whoever he had with him was not his angel, because the look he was using was not something that his angel would ever use. He was pure anger, uncontrolled and fierce. It was pure terror. A wave of chills invaded the body of Newt-Crowley over which for a moment the demon had lost control making visible to all the celestial present the fear they felt.
The demon regained control quickly, hoping the thing hadn't gotten too badly noticed. "My dear guardian, I have a human to take upstairs, I kindly ask you to open the doors of paradise for us" said Aziraphale with a smile as sweet as honey. "But ehmm, humans... well, here are the living humans who can't pass..." the poor man didn't even finish the sentence because Aziraphale held his spear so tightly that it broke between his fingers. "These are orders that I have received from the great chief... and then I doubt that it would be wise for you to contradict me... Don't you know who I am?" the angel who now placed the other half of the spear in the hands of the poor guardian adds with a contrite air. The guardian did not think twice about it, turned towards the door made some gestures began to click a lock after another making sure that the heavy door opened on paradise.
He felt the hand from the familiar heat take his and guide him into the dazzling light, the demon felt nothing safe at all and even Newt screaming desperately. The demon saw nothing, he was completely blinded by that light that invaded everything that without warning, simply died. The light of paradise went out. "Then as long as it takes, this new maintenance system is so uncomfortable that I don't know how to do it" the angel who had spoken performed a miracle and suddenly the light returned. Ezekiel smiled at them with all the tranquility of this world. "Azi for how long brother, I'm glad you're back home, I began to worry!" took a few steps towards them and as soon as he could hug strong Aziraphale who clumsy returned the grip. "You must be a friend of Azi's. Welcome. Welcome. Forgive me for the light in the room I was trying to make it dimmer, but I'm afraid I blew it up for a moment" he giggled like a little girl, the angel who touched two meters high and was a cluster of muscles with freckles giggling amused. "O don't worry, I'm very glad to be back, I missed home. Forgive me, but I should take my dear friend to her." Aziraphale was kind enough to say. "But of course I'll accompany you" the big man without warning put his arm around each of the two and took them out of the small bare office. As he came out, the only thing the demon saw was a strictly white plaque on his desk. If possible, the inscription illuminated the room even more and declaimed "ACCEPTANCE LEVEL 1".
