Chapter 14

YN POV

It was getting late; I had lunch and dinner with the Bowen's, it was cool. I walked home and Ricky told me he was going to write his letter tonight to give it to me tomorrow. When I came home, my mom was watching her Mexican soap operas on Univision.

—Por fin te dignaste a venir a casa. Estabas todo el santo día junto a tu amigo blanquito.— (Finally you decide to show up. You were out all day with your white friend) my mom said.

—Ay, mami, no seas tan dramática por favor.— (Ay, mama, don't be so dramatic please) I said. I told her I was sorry and that I would spend all day at home with her if she wanted. But then she said she had plans with her "comadres" so then I told her I was going to Gina's and she agreed.

I took a shower but I didn't wash my hair and I put on my pajamas so I can do a nice mud mask and watch some movies. I then got a call.

—Hello— I said stiffly.

—Girl, what are you doing?— Gina asked me.

—I'm doing a mud mask. Did you call to tell me something or...?— I asked.

—Oh right, I heard that Nini and EJ broke up.— Gina said.

—Sophomore dance team captain say what!— I said and I'm pretty sure I messed up my mask.

— Yeah. Ashlyn told me that kourtney told her that Nini broke up EJ because he wasn't romantic enough, that he doesn't write her cute letters, how they never had a proper date, and that since he's going off to college, there really isn't much hope with their relationship.— Gina said.

—Damn...okay, so I'm pretty sure this is my fault..

—YA THINK?!?

—Okay, okay, no need for the yelling. What I need to do is write another letter and then make them meet next week and BAM! They fall in love, they date, Ricky proposes, they live happily ever after with three kids and the family dog all thanks to me.— I said,

—Girl, you got issues. Besides, I thought you said Ricky and you were gonna get married, have five kids, and two family dogs so they can get married and have puppies.

—Yeah But that was before Nini and EJ broke up. Now listen, I don't know if I should tell Ricky that Nini and EJ broke up.

—Nini and EJ broke up?!?— a voice at the door said. Oh great,
