Succumbing To The Darkness Within (Previously The Gift)

Chapter 21

~Mara's P.O.V~

Cassandra and I are still in the kitchen. I am still trying to process the information she just told me.

"My mom is not a White Wolf anymore is now she's what people call a Dark Wolf. It's when a White Wolf turns evil. There is darkness in every White Wolf and it their job to fight it. If you give in or it the darkness consumes you, you'll be gone forever. Watching from the sidelines, not being able to do any thing. My mom, I think she couldn't handle it anymore and was swallowed up by the darkness. That's why she's like this. Complete evil. " She adds.

"What can we do to stop this?" I ask. I don't wanna to see anyone get hurt because of me.

"The only thing we can do. We get all the help we can get." I groan.

"I was hoping that there would be another option. I don't want to see anyone get hurt especially because of me." I say to her.

Hearing rushing footsteps heading our direction, we turn so we can stare at the door which connects kitchen to the rest of the house. Chloe, Robin and Dylan emerge with their eyes pitch black.

"Rogue! What are you doing at my house on my territory!" Dylan growls at Cassie.

"Dylan calm down. I invited her here." I say calmly standing up from the stool. His eyes were still dark and he gives Cassie a low growl.

"Dylan!" I shout which catches his attention. "She's my guest! So stop the growling and behave!" I scowl.

"Who is she?" Chloe asks who's eyes were back to normal.

"Her name is Cassandra and she came to warn me."

"Warn you about what?" Robin asks.

"She-" I was cut off by Kiara and George entering and by the looks of it they were rushing.

"Cassandra? Is that really you?" George asks. Am I missing something here?

Cassie looks at George and her face lights up.

"Daddy!" Cassie squeals. She jumps off her seat and engulfs George in a hug. And he accepts it with open arms.

"Did she just say daddy?" I ask dumbfounded.

Michael enters and his eyes were dark. Oh no not again.

"Mate!" Michael growls.

Cassie pulls away from George and looks at Michael.

"Mine!"

Everyone including me, settle down in the living room. Michael is holding Cassie so close, like he's afraid that she is going to run away. Robin and George were doing the with Chloe and Kiara. Dylan is standing, glaring daggers at George. At this sight I frown.

After telling them what Cassie told me, everything went silent. And the silence was deafening.

"Mara you we have your back right? no matter what." Chloe says breaking the silence. I nod in response.

"So dad, when were you going to tell me that I had a half-sister?" Dylan asks pushing himself off the wall that he was leaning on.

"Dylan I thought it was best that you didn't know." George replies.

Dylan scoffs and leans back against the wall.

"And mom you were okay with this?" He asks Kiara and all eyes were on her.

"Yes I am. I am okay with it because it was before we met." She answers.

"I'm gonna go inform Alpha Jason of our current situation, we'll need as much help we can get." Dylan says while leaving the room.

"Cassie uh... just to clarify, you didn't kill your mom's mate did you?" I ask.

"No I didn't, I wouldn't." She says sounding upset that I asked.

"Wait a minute!" Chloe shouts while jumping out of Robin's arms. "Jared and Salem."

"The guys who attacked at school? What about them?"

"Mara they were after you and so was Robin." All eyes were now on Robin.

"Robin who sent you guys after me?"

"I don't know, I was just suppose to follow Salem. I don't know who was behind it all." He responds. "But Jared and Salem do."

With that Chloe walks out of the room so everyone else follows. Walking towards the door that leads to the basement, she opens it. Why are we going into the basement?

Entering we were greeted by a next door and Chloe pulls out a key and opens it. The smell of rogues made me cringe. As we enter, I notice cells. Some were empty and some had someone occupying it.

Greeted by a next door, Chloe puts in a pin and it opens. Darkness that's all I could see. Someone flips on the light and it flickers on. Seeing familiar blonde and brown haired guys, I turn to Chloe.

"So this is why you guys always told me to never come down here."

"Yep." Chloe says popping the 'p'

Jared and Salem were in two separate cells from each other and we caught their attention when we walked in.

"What, Dylan to busy to visit?" Jared comments with a smirk.

"Who are you working for?" Chloe asks cutting to the chase.

"What, no hellos or how are you?" Salem says.

"We're not in the mood. Who are you working for?" She says taking a step towards the cells.

"What's it to you?" Jared says with the smirk gone replaced with a blank expression. Then his eyes shift from Chloe to me and he sniffs the air. "Salem you owe my 20 bucks! I told you it would be her."

"I guess you were right."

"Cut the bullshit or I swear to god I will rip your throats out." I could see her visibly shaking with anger. Chloe is not a patient person and she's got a temper.

"Calm down don't get your panties in a bunch." Chloe snarls. "Salem here was blackmailed into doing his dirty deeds while I was chosen from a bunch of rogues."

"That di-"

"What do you mean blackmailed? What are you getting in return Salem? And who are you working for?" I cut in.

"She said she would give me back my sister." Salem says with his head hung down low with a frown on his face.

"She?"

"Emily, we are working for Emily Grant, Luna of the Blood Moon Pack."
