Chapter 19

~Dylan's P.O.V~

What did I almost just do?!

I just almost mark Mara. The fear in her eyes, the way how her voice cracked and the way how her body slightly trembled.

"What is wrong with you?!" I shout at my wolf, Ryder.

"We should have done that ages ago! But still you stopped me! Why?" He says back.

"Don't you think I would have done that ages ago if I thought she was ready! You idiot!"

"So our un-mated mate is just out there without our mark to protect her!"

"Yes! Trust me Mara can take care of herself. She smart. So even if we're not around she'll be fine plus I have eyes and ears everywhere. It's very hard for the both of us, me and her. She is going through a lot so I don't want to add marking her or attempting to, to add to her list." I shot back. "It was hard enough running away from her. I know you want your mate but think about her for once."

"I am." After that statement, he goes back to his little corner.

I change direction, for what seems like the fifth time today, so I decide to just head back to school to look if Mara is there.

~Mara's P.O.V~

The best place, right now, is Dylan's house. No one's suppose to be there now and I think my mom is already back and I can't deal with her questions right now.

"Can you walk?" I ask her.

"Yeah I guess." I sigh. My car.

"Do you mind walking back to my school so I can get my car? It's not far."

"Yeah sure." Her mumbles.

"What's your name?" I just realize she didn't tell me her name.

"Cassandra but you can call me Cassie." She says.

"Well Cassie I'm Mara-" but I was cut off.

"I know who you are." She says with an emotionless expression.

"How do-"

"I'll explain when it's safe." And I nod.

How do she knows who I am? Pretty sure I haven't met her before.

Reaching the parking lot at the school, I jog towards my car with Cassie close behind. Opening the door I slid in and buckle my seatbelt. I unlock the doors so she come in.

She sits in seat beside me and buckles her seatbelt also.

"Ready?" I turn my head awaiting her answer. She nods.

I start the car and speed out of the parking lot. I slow down because I'm not in the mood to get stopped by the cops.

Driving for at least 10 minutes, I park in front of Dylan's house and stop the engine.

"Come on let's go. You wanna take a shower first? You can borrow some of my clothes." I ask still in the car with her.

"Yes please." She says smiling at me. I give her a warm smile in return.
I open my door and step out. I hear the other door closing, so I lock all the doors. I motion her to follow.

"Is this your house?" She says in a small voice.

"No, I was just staying here for a couple of days. Let's get you some clean clothes." I says while opening the doors while a spear key Kiara (Dylan's mom) gave me a while ago.

Stepping inside, I wait for her to enter and close it behind her.

"Mara? Why are you here so early? You're not skipping school again?" Kiara asks me while coming downstairs.

"Not this time, well not exactly. I'll explain later." I say to her. I am making my way upstairs, so I can make Cassie get clean.

"Who's your friend?" She asks inquisitive as always.

"This is Cassandra. I'm going upstairs to show her where the shower is so she can get clean. Are you okay?" As soon a Cassie's name leaves my lips she tenses and was just staring at Cassie.

"Yeah. You go and do that. When you're finished we need to talk, all of us, including you Cassandra." She says sounding serious. What is going on? Who's this girl?

"Okay." With that I grab, not too hard, Cassie's arm and pull her to my room and close the door behind.

"Doing you know Kiara?" I ask her. She shakes her head no.
I pass her to find some clothes that I think could fit her. She's about my size so I think any thing can fit her. Finding some, I give them to her and direct her to the bathroom. As soon as I hear the water turn on my mind becomes flooded with questions.

Who is she? How is it that Kiara knows her? Why does she know who I am? Who was she running from?

All these questions and possible answers were running through my head. I didn't even notice Cassie is standing in front of me trying to get my attention.

"All done?" She nods in response."Let's go into the kitchen.While you explain we can eat something. You hungry?"

"Yeah thanks for asking." She says so quiet I hardly heard it.

"You're welcome." I place my hand on her back and lead her downstairs.

In the kitchen, she sits on one of the stools. I find some Cheetos, I guess it has to do.

"I can't find anything else."

"It's fine thank you."

Taking the seat beside her, I place the snack on the counter and turn to face her.

"So how do you know who I am?" I ask gently but serious. She looks up at me.

"For you to understand I have to tell you everything."
