~Crystal's P.O.V~ (Mara's Mom)

The day of the attack....

I know I told Mara that she should stay at Dylan and Chloe's house until later, but I miss my daughter. I know I'm away too often and my job takes me far away but I'm doing it for her. My job puts a roof over our head, yes, but I'm miss my daughter dearly and the thought of her home alone scares me. It's been hard since my husband John, Mara's dad, died when she was 12.

I sigh and open my house door to see that everything is the same. Locking the door on my way in, I put my car keys and work bag on the kitchen counter. Taking off my heels, I decide to make myself a cup off coffee.

~*~*~*~*~*

Mara should be home any minute now. As if on cue the doorbell rings. Odd. I go to open the door, but I can't help but feel like something's wrong. Hesitantly, I open the door.

On my door step, there is a woman and to her left and right there two men.

The woman had dark reddish brown hair and dark brown eyes. She has on a mischievous and conniving smirk plastered on her face. She's not petite or muscular, she's in between. And looks around my age. All of them looks to be about my age.

On her right, the man has blonde hair and green eyes which looks hollow and has no emotions at all. He's taller than the woman and the one the left.

The other guy who is on the left, has pitch black hair with brown eyes. He looks.... off. Like he doesn't want to be here.

And they all are staring at me.

"Yes?" I answer.

"Good afternoon. Is your daughter home?" The woman asks.

"No, what do you want with my daughter?" I ask her curiously.

"Drats!" She says snapping her fingers ignoring my question. "I thought she would be home. I guess I have to leave a message." She looks at me with a smirk.

What?

"Get her." She says to the two guys. I step back into the house as they come in. Their eyes darken to pitch black.

Shit. They're werewolves!

Blondie grabs my arm and I hiss in pain.

"Bad idea pup." I drive my foot straight up until it connected with somewhere where the sun don't shine.

He hands let go of me, he drops to his knees in pain and holds his groin. I use the opportunity to head into the kitchen, for a knife or something silver.

"Get her! She's a human for crying out loud." The woman shouts.

I find myself a silver knife and a frying pan. Good enough. I prepare myself for the pain for which I'm going to encounter. They're 3 werewolves and I'm only one human, the odds aren't in my favor.

"You're going to pay for that." Blondie says a he enters the kitchen.

Gripping the frying pan behind my back I wait for him to get close but not too close. When he reaches the needed destination, I muster up all the strength in my body and let the pan connect to his head.

It caught him by surprise, as it did so. He became unconscious. Stepping over his body, I step into the hallway but I didn't see anything. I walk towards the living room, not letting my guard down, and I still see nothing. Turning around, I'm sent flying and crash into the living room by the black haired guy, who was standing in the hallway and was standing right behind me.

I groan in pain as I get to my feet. With the knife and pan in my hands.

"This one is a fighter. I hope your daughter is one too." The lady says standing beside the man.

"You stay away from my daughter!"

"Oh I'm so scared." She says sarcastically. "Chris get her. I'm going to go wake up Marvin." She rolls her eyes and exits leaving me to deal with Chris here.

"No problem at all." He smirks smugly.

"You sure about that wolfie."

He growls and stalks me. The only thing separating us is the couch. He finally comes at me, but of course he's faster than me. He tries to punch me but ends up punching my television.

"Hey! That cost money. Your going to pay for that." I shout. I know it's not the time for that but.... He punched my t.v. leaving a big hole.

"And you're going to pay for calling me wolfie." He growls out.

He extends his claws. Trying to move as fast as I can to dodge his attacks, I fall onto the couch. And my so called weapons, fell from me. He tries to claw me again but I drop sideways to dodge it. All I heard was the sound of the couch ripping and tearing.

Reaching for the closest thing, the frying pan, I swing. It didn't make him unconscious but it gave me enough time to land a punch and run. Running I see that my only option is upstairs because the door is now blocked by, the now awake, Blondie and the woman.

Going for my room, I go to the window. Freedom was so close I could taste it but it was cut short by a big hand grabbing my ankle and dragging me back.

With both men at my sides holding my arms out to the side, I was forced to look up at the leader of the attackers.

"Wow. I'm impressed." She says looking down at me.

"Perks of being a hunter's wife."

"Well, it's time to take my leave but-" I cut her off.

"What do you want with my daughter?" I ask through gritted teeth.

"Well to kill her of course." She say it like it's the most obvious thing in the world.

"Why?"

"Because she's a White Wolf like me. You most known what a White Wolf is? Right? Your husband must have told you."

"I've heard of it. But Mara is not a White Wolf." I say. Could she be? Or was I too blind to see?

"Oh. Didn't Mara tell you? Shame?"

"What are you going to do with me?" I ask. She obviously not going to kill me, well not yet, she would've done so already.

"Well your going to be a messenger." She say with an evil smile.

"What do yo-" before I could finish, something sharp sticks me in my neck. My arms were released and I feel my neck. I see her holding a- oh no please don't be what I think it is.

Hubane!

"You didn't."

"Oh yes I did. Goodnight Crystal forever. Unless your daughter makes it here in time." And with that they disappear.

I could already feel my body becoming numb. I look down at my hands and see the poison already in my system. Black dots begin to invade my vision.

"Mara, I'm sorry." I whisper before the darkness consumes me, into what could be a slumber which will probably last forever.
