Succumbing To The Darkness Within (Previously The Gift)

Chapter 5

Chloe just turned into a wolf. It was a dark brown wolf and her green eyes were turned to light brown.

"Chloe..." I'm not even paying attention to the black wolf that is on top of me. She gave me the the 'I'll explain later' look.

Then Chloe lunges at Jared which causes the both of them to crash into a tree.

I heard growling from behind me, I slowly turned around afraid of what I will come face to face with. Oh come on! Another one! A much darker brown looking wolf was growling at me.

"Well I'm going to die" I thought as it starts running towards me.

But was then tackled by a grayish looking wolf.

Well I'm taking this well. I'm literally in the middle of wolves fighting. I wonder how I'm not having a panic attack, I can't even move.

Then I heard a snap then a whimper, I looked and the grey wolf towering over the dark brown one. Then I saw Chloe in the same position. Jared and Salem were back to human.

Chloe and the grey wolf went behind a tree and Chloe came back wear a t-shirt and shorts.

I wonder who is the grey wolf.

I turned to look who it was and it was Dylan wear nothing but a pair of pants. You know what I'm not even surprised any more.

"Mara, just listen please" Dylan said while slowly walking towards me. I didn't even realized I was stepping backwards, so I stopped. I motioned for him to go on.

"We didn't tell you because it was for your own protection. There was a chance if we told you, your life would have been in danger...." At this point he was a couple of inches from me. "You've got to understand that we did it to protect you."

"I understand, I think I wanna go home now."

"You sure?"

"Yeah, I'm gonna go back to school and wait for you guys there."

"Wow, you are taking this very well. Are sure you're okay?" He asked with concern.

"Yeah, I'm fine. I just need to sleep for a while." I said with my voice shaking. And he just nod. I started to make my way back to school. I saw the black haired guy who was with Jared and Salem earlier.

"Dude you are so late. Let me guess you're one too...." I said stopping in front of him. He didn't say a word, he just looked at me. "Of course."

And I continued walking.

When got back to school it was already lunch time. Wow time flies when you discovering werewolves are real.

I leant up against Dylan's car waiting for both him and Chloe to come back.

"I can't believe they're werewolves." Was all that was running through my mind. I didn't even notice someone was in front of me until they cleared their throat. I looked up and saw it was Cindy Ford, the so called queen bee of the school. I just say she wears way too much make-up. She has long blonde hair that stop at the middle of her back and blue eyes and always wearing short clothes.

I wonder how someone so pretty on the outside be so ugly and mean on the inside.

"Where's Dylan?" She asks looking bored.

"I don't know, I'm just waiting on him." I said not wanting to be here. Did I mention she's a huge slut. I know it's mean but it's true, I'm pretty sure she slept with every guy in this school. But for some reason she's obsessed with Dylan. Poor Dylan.

I saw Dylan emerge from the woods. I pushed myself off the car with my arms crossed.

"Dylan, what were you doing in the forest?" Cindy asks while he was approaching.

"Not now, Cindy" Dylan says while walking pass her.

"But I haven't se-"

"I said not now!"

"Fine." she said reluctantly and walked away.

"Ready?" He asks me.

"Yeah. Where's Chloe?"

"Chloe and Robin went back to my house with Jared and Salem" he answered.

I entered his car and sat in the front seat. As I sit down in the car, I took out my phone and my head sets to listen to music as a sign that I didn't want to talk about it.

"Oh shot, I forgot that I'm staying at your house for the rest of the week. So I guess we drive to your house" I sighed and relaxed in the car seat. This is going to be a long week.
