Wanda walked beside Bucky as they ducked around people and made their way through the crowds. Coming at a stop neat the dance floor she looked over to the soldier and saw his face was lit up, he looked so happy. They stood there for a bit watching people dance, Wanda smiled seeing how joyful everyone was and how carefree it seemed. Though she did take notice of the soldiers in the room, she tugged gently on his arm to get his attention, "Won't someone notice you?" She had to speak a bit louder so he could hear her with the music playing.
Bucky leaned close, but kept his eye on the dance floor, "Maybe." He smiled and finally caught her eye, "Do you dance?"
"No." Wanda shook her head, but her eyes widened as Bucky began to lead her toward the dance floor, "No, I really don't!" She smiled, but he didn't seem to care what her answer to his questions was. Eventually they were out among the dancers, Bucky held his hand out to her. Wanda looked at it, then back up to him, leaning in so he could hear her, "I don't know how!"
"You don't need to!" Bucky grinned, he was really in his element here. "Come on, I don't want to ask someone else." He winked, Wanda shook her head gently with a smile and took his hand.
Bucky was right, Wanda didn't need to know, because he was good enough for the both of them. With his hand on her waist and the other taking her hand Wanda followed his lead, bouncing to the rhythm of the music. It was awkward at first, Wanda never had the luxury of dancing anywhere, but having Bucky as a partner really made it fun, and she began to smile. When he took her hands in his and started spinning her around, she began to laugh. Wanda hadn't laughed this hard in years. Not since before Thanos.
There was dips, turns, spinning. As the song came to an end Wanda looked at Bucky and smiled, amazed by how the environment and being in his time really brought something out in him, something she simply couldn't not smile at. The music kicked up again, but it was slow this time, a smooth rhythm. Those around them began to slow dance and Wanda readied herself to leave the dance floor, but she was surprised when Bucky took her hand and pulled to toward him, placing her hands around his neck before holding her waist. It was a different feeling, slow dancing, something else she never got to really do. Vision tried to get her to dance, but Wanda always felt foolish. Somehow, in this moment, nothing felt foolish. "Thank you." Bucky's soft voice penetrated her thoughts, making her look up at him.
"For what?" She felt his bare neck, where his hair prickled her hands lightly.
"Helping me." The sincere look on Bucky's face made Wanda feel calm, she smiled at him and leaned in closer, resting her head against his chest while they swayed.
(I couldn't find a good gif, so just imagine this is them. lol)
The song seemed to linger on, they danced together close, Wanda relaxing into Bucky's chest. As the song came to an end, she turned her head to look up at him, he slowly found her eyes and gently, with his right hand, cupped her face as he looked at her. If the song had felt like it went on forever, then the amount of time they looked at one another seemed like an eternity. Wanda's eye began to flicker away as she noticed some people walking in the door, she turned and her eyes widened, "James..."
