This went on through the week, each time it was over Bucky was brought back to his room and that is where he stayed the rest of the day. His body and mind were so exhausted that just laying in bed was what Shuri ordered. Except for today, when Shuri took him out of his restraints and he was awake. "You're getting stronger." She smiled, unhooking the last strap, "You've always passed out."
"I feel exhausted." He nodded, "But stronger. I feel that too."
"Good, because you have a visitor in your room." Both Bucky and Wanda looked at one another, confused. When his eyes implied the questions, she shook her head, neither of them knew who it was. "Wanda?" Shuri turned to her, "Can you stay? I have to show you something." Wanda nodded as one of the guards walked over to help Bucky to his room.
By the time they got upstairs he became more and more anxious, but he knew they wouldn't let someone dangerous in. So as he opened the door he was relieved to see Doctor Strange standing near the window and looking out at the city.
"A beautiful place. I'm sorry I didn't get to see it before war." Strange turned to Bucky, "You look like crap."
"Thanks." Bucky made his way over to sit on the bed, "To what do I owe this...surprising visit."
"I came to show you something." He walked over closer to the bed. "To...deter you from thinking about traveling through time again."
"I don't think I need to do it again." Bucky looked up at him.
Strange nodded, "Well..." He could tell he didn't believe him, "You do think about it again. And I need to show you what you could lose if you do."
"Lose?" Bucky asked, "What do I have to lose?"
"Nothing yet." Strange looked down, "But you will..." Gesturing his hands over to empty space he flicked his fingers to show Bucky an image, "This...this is your future..."
Bucky watched as an image of Wanda holding a child played out in front of him, he felt the air knock out of him. "Is that?"
"Yes." Strange nodded, "That's your son."
The image changed, Bucky sucked in air as it did because he didn't want it to go, but now she saw Sam and him, grabbing one another's hands. "A growing bond." Strange nodded and the image disappeared. "You can look forward to those things."
"Why show me this? Isn't it...dangerous for me to know?" Bucky felt tense.
"Yes. But if you travel in time again, things change. For you, and everyone." Strange pulled another image up.
Wanda was crying, it broke Bucky's heart to see that. "What happened?" Bucky starred at the image.
"Her heart is broken," Strange was blunt, "Your son died. Or...you didn't have him. Wanda has a miscarriage."
Bucky looked over to Strange, "And I do that?"
He only nodded and changed the image.
"What is that?" Bucky got to his feet.
"Sam Wilson's grave." Strange made the image disappear, turning his attention back to Bucky. "You will think of another reason to time travel. This is what you lose. A best friend, your lover, and your child." Bucky looked angry, he turned his face over to Strange, "Think twice before you do." Bucky nodded, filled with different emotions. "We will meet again." Strange nodded, "And...good luck with what you are doing." Bucky nodded and Strange left.
Back in the lab Wanda stood in front of a large monitor with Shuri as he clicked a few buttons, "When I was working with Vision," The name stung in Wanda's ears as she didn't expect Shuri to say it, "I created a file...I always back up my work. Though before now, I ever needed it." Shuri pulled up a file named VISION PROJECT. "I was going to do it as a surprise for you and the team...but it wouldn't be the same."
Wanda starred at the file, her eyes wide, "Do what?"
"Well...if I can do what Ultron did, create a synthetic body, I may be able to upload Vision's data to it." Shuri was smiling, Wanda was not. "Bring him back. He won't have the power of the mind stone, but he will be Vision." Shuri turned to see Wanda was frozen again. "I was going to...but then I saw how you were with Bucky."
Wanda felt heavy, like her feet were melting into the floor. "Now?"
"Well...I suppose that is up to you." Shuri looked back at the monitor, "You don't have to decide now...but I want you to know your options. I can do this, or I can delete the file."
"I..." Wanda didn't have words.
"You don't have to tell me know." Shuri clicked away from the screen. "I just had to tell you."
Wanda nodded, she thanked Shuri and quickly made her way out of the lab.
