Chapter Thirty-Eight: Mexico

Back at the school they all got together and discussed what had happened. Sometime during their meeting Professor Xavier seemed to have checked out, he stared out into the room, his eyes not focusing on anything. Sam and Bruce were arguing about the time travel, Bucky was sitting with his teeth clenched, while Storm tried to explain that Magento wouldn't be easily located and in the midst of all this Professor X spoke out, "Mexico."

Everyone in the room shut up and turned to him, he was still staring out, "What?" Sam stepped toward Professor X.

"He's in Mexico." The Professor smiled.

"How..." Sam started,

"Mexico." Storm repeated, "Don't question it."

As they all walked out of the room, plan in place, Sam grabbed Bucky by the shoulder, "Hey." Bucky stopped, "I get it. I do. But...this could be Thanos all over again."

"I know." Bucky nodded, he looked over at Sam and shrugged, "I get it. Doesn't mean I agree with it." Bucky pulled his shoulder back, making Sam's hand fall, and he walked away. Sam watched as he walked away from him, hoping soon they could fall back into the groove they had. 

Bucky walked back toward his room, opening the door he found Wanda standing there at the end of the bed. Wanda looked up at him and within seconds he was holding her in his arms. Wanda smiled, she snuggled into his chest, "What's bothering you?"

"Nothing." He shook his head.

"Liar." Wanda pulled back and looked up at him, "You're hiding something."

Bucky stared into her green eyes, he smiled, "I promise you that I'll never hide anything from you that would cause you harm. Trust me."

Wanda smiled, leaning up to kiss him gently, "I do."

In the same day they were on the quinjet headed for Mexico. The X-Men were dressed in their black suits while the Avenger's sported their personal gear. "It's cute, you all match." Scott smiled at Bobby. "Black is uh, slimming yeah?" Bobby gave Scott a weird look, "Right...I talk a lot."

"What if he isn't after the stones?" Storm asked Sam who was sitting across from her, "He did try to put his plan in action years ago. He almost killed Rouge. Maybe he wants to try that again?"

"We can't risk either of those things." Sam shook his head, "I won't let anything change." Sam looked back at Bucky who was staring out at the front window, "Not even our futures."

When they landed, they split into three groups. Sam, Storm, Bucky, and Logan. Wanda, Rouge, Peter, and Bobby. Bruce, Hank, and Scott. They all took different entrances to the building where Professor X sent them. "If you find him, let us know." Sam looked around at everyone.

"Let's do this." Logan sighed, "I'd like to get home before the sun sets."

Wanda looked over and Bucky and nodded, he smirked quickly at her, then began to follow Sam around the building. Wanda lead her group through the door in front of them, surprised to find the entrance empty. "Something's not right." Wanda slowly walked down the hall, "Why wouldn't they guard the entrance?"

"Because they knew we would come." Rouge froze as she suddenly realized, "Magneto let Professor X know his location."

Wanda turned and looked at Rouge in shock, "Why would be lead us here then?!"

Bucky, Sam, Storm, and Logan entered a large room, the time travel pad was set up directly in the center of the room. "That's too easy." Storm spoke softly. 

"Too easy?" Suddenly a voice echoed from the other side of the room and Magneto walked out into the light. "Too easy." He smiled, "No. I don't do easy."

As Wanda's group turned a corner there was a blast sending them all in different directions. Wanda hit the wall and slid down, grunting loud as she landed on the floor. Before she could gather any sense of her surroundings a blue blur lunged at her. Wanda waved her hand, making red pour out and throw the woman to the side. As she focused on the woman she realized it was not the blue skinned person she saw before. This woman had slick back red hair and yellow eyes, and also was very quick to jump back. Getting to her feet, Mystique smiled and spit at the floor before lunging at Wanda again. The rest of those on Wanda's team were fighting off others, Wanda could see down the hall before taking a punch to the gut. Wanda's eyes widened and she gagged, holding her stomach in fear.

In the large room Sam's team was wrapped together in a large metal bar where they could not move, Magneto brought them over toward the time travel pad. "You see, a world of mutants will thrive. Your old friend, Thanos. Now, he had the beginning of an idea." Just as he spoke, Bucky felt his head sink, realizing now they were in more trouble than originally imagined, "With those stones, I'm noting to erase fifty percent of living creatures, no." Magneto starred into Bucky's eyes, "I'm going wipe out humans and anyone who is against us. Mutants will thrive." With that the time travel pad began to light up and just before they disappeared with Magneto he watched as Wanda and Bruce's group was brought into the room and put on their knees by Magneto's Brotherhood. Wanda's eyes locked with Bucky, her hand was holding her stomach and she looked at him with fear. Then, they were gone.
