Sugar (the final flashback)

I walked into Evan's room out of breath and with a big bag of sugar. "What took you so long?" Evan said as he smiled. "Well, Hayes was with Paulina..and lets just say they got a little distracted." I said as I rolled my eyes. Evan started laughing, "Oh I see.." I sat down with a big sigh. "Can I talk to you about something...?" Evan whispered. "Sure, anything." He walked me over to the couch and sat me down. "Tai..I really like you.." There was an awkward pause. "But what about Emm-" Evan interrupted me before I finished. "That's who I want to talk about.." I took a deep breath and nodded. "Me and Emma's family have known each other before we were even born" he continued "Emma's family is low on money right now and I have to marry her so her family won't be in debt.." I looked shocked but before I could speak he grabbed my hand. "I know all that sounds crazy but I want you too know, I only love y-" "WHO THE HELL IS THIS BITCH?"

Emma had kicked down the door and started yelling at Evan. Evan stood up and put his hand in front of me to protect me. "This is Taissa and I.." 'NO, YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE WITH OTHER GIRLS, FAKE RELATIONSHIP OR NOT!" Emma glared at me then looked at Evan. "I really love you Evan." She grabbed his face and pulled him in for a kiss. As they were making out Emma was looking at me, I could feel my face get red out of jealousy. I stood up, "I'll call you later." my voice cracked and I was about to cry. I ran out of the room and heard Evan call me but I was already out.

Since then Evan never showed any signs of love besides a drunken kiss and flirty attitude. I didn't know if he was afraid of Emma but a few days after her outburst he proposed. I spent my day talking to Paulina and crying, she hugged me. "Just so you know, he really loves you, it may not seem like it, but I know my brother." I buried my face in her chest and cried some more. It was all happening too fast.."You'll be ok, I promise." "Thanks Lina" I said as tears rolled down my cheeks. "Let's go get some ice cream, OK?" "Okay."
