As soon as the movie started, you were mesmerized by the imagery, acting, and most importantly, the ominous music. In fact, it was so entrancing that you didn't notice how close 2D had shifted towards you until he buried his face into your neck.

"OH NO!" he squealed as the water violently thrashed on screen, saturating with murky crimson. You hesitated for a moment, pursing your lips. This was a bit beyond just friendly; however, you knew that it was probably just the way 2D was. With a soft laugh, you stroked his messy blue hair.

"Don't be scared, it's just a movie," you cooed as you felt 2D gradually loosen up. You saw him peek at the screen through his fingers, then quickly hide away again, this time under the blanket. "Hey," you chuckled, "I thought you WANTED to see a horror movie!"

"Yeah, but the shark kinda looks..." he trailed off.

"What?"

"It kinda looks like a..."

"You're going to have to speak up if you want me to hear you," you commanded, pausing the movie.

"It looks like a whale," 2D finally managed.

"Did you say whale?" you snorted in disbelief.

"Yeah..." 2D mumbled.

"It's hardly on screen at all- How does it look like a whale?" you cried, "And more importantly, how is a whale scarier than a shark?"

"They're really big, like they could swallow you whole. And they're- they're just scary," 2D confessed sincerely.

"I guess. But isn't being ripped apart by a shark and its million sharp teeth way more terrifying?" you argued.

"Some whales have teef too, y'know."

"But you said swallow."

"They're still scary to look at."

You tossed your head back and laughed. "Alright, 2D. We don't have to watch it if you don't want to."

2D sat up suddenly, "N-no- I'll watch it!" he offered, "And I won't cover my eyes. I'll see the whole fing. Promise."

"Okay," you agreed, turning the movie back on. However, within a few minutes, 2D's head was back under the covers. "Come here, you liar," you simpered as you pulled 2D toward you, letting him rest his head on your shoulder. The motion of bringing him against your body triggered a memory.

"So who's the green guy?" you asked cautiously.

"Wot? There's a green guy? Where?" squaked 2D, apparently thinking  you were referring to the movie.

"From last night," you added, biting your lip as soon as the words left your mouth. The last thing you wanted was to remind him of its events. You dropped your hand from his head and into your lap, your entire body stiffening awkwardly.

"Oh, him. Murdoc," 2D's voice faltered as he looked down bitterly.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to be nosy."

"No, it's okay. We just have a bit of a history."

"Oh."

"Yeah. Basically, it all started wif- AHH!" 2D bleated alongside a woman's scream tearing through the air. On screen, there was a girl wailing as she was yanked underwater. He covered his eyes, shuddering in terror, and leaned further into your body. You rolled your eyes, knowing how you would regret it, and brought your arm back around him, trying to calm him down.

After a few moments, 2D continued his sentence, "It-it all started wif him crashing into my head wif his car. He-."

"Dude," you blurted in disbelief. "No way. How is he not in jail?"

"I mean, this was years ago-"

"WHY DO YOU STILL KNOW HIM?"

"Well, if you'd let me finish, I'd tell you," 2D groused.

"Oh yeah, sorry." You cringed, embarrassed of your lack of decorum. "Please continue. I'm all yours."

"All mine?" 2D warbled, confused.

"Oh- I meant ears. I'm all ears."

Your complexion turned a deep shade of pink as you looked away, flustered. 2D smiled coyly at the remark, realizing what you had said. You were not very amused.

"Okay then," he started, taking in a deep breath. Usually he didn't like telling the story, for he had so many times before, but he would make an exception for you. "So it all began when Murdoc crashed his car into the shop I was working in. That's what put the first dent in my head. It's also why one of my eyes is black, actually-"

"How?" you interrupted eagerly.

"The doctors call it an eight-ball fracture. It's when your eye fillso up wif blood-"

"What about your other one?"

"That was the second crash."

"Second crash?"

"Yeah. Murdoc had to babysit me after the first one 'cos it put me into this catatonic, zombie state-"

"Wait, why was the man who almost killed you looking after you?"

"Dunno," 2D smiled, knowing how that answer always made you laugh. He grinned even wider when he finally heard you giggle.

"No, seriously. Why?" you begged through your chortles.

"It was his punishment for everfink," he explained. "But I guess it wasn't much of one since that second accident was what made him put me in his band."

"You were in a BAND with HIM?"

"Yeah," 2D nodded.

"How? I would have never spoken to him again. Not after what he did," you declared passionately.

"Well, I dunno. I really liked music, so I thought it could work. Besides, I couldn't really fink straight when I joined. I'd just woken up from being a vegetable, after all."

"Wait, when did that happen?"

"Wot, waking up? That was fanks to Murdoc, I suppose. Getting knocked in the head again somehow knocked me back to myself, too."

"That's crazy," you mused, inspecting 2D's black hole eyes that had now stolen all your attention away from the movie. He flashed a toothless smile at you, prompting your next question.

"So what about your teeth?"

"Also lost them in the crash". Honestly, I'm surprised Murdoc didn't call me summfink worse than 2D. I've got so much messed up wif how I look that-"

"No you don't," you spilled. The corners of 2D's mouth twitched, forming a shy smile.

"Really?" he asked insecurely, his face turning pink. "I mean, Murdoc calls me faceache all the time."

"Well, Murdoc doesn't know what he's talking about," you claimed boldly. You weren't really sure about the validity of your statement, as you hadn't consciously considered 2D's attractiveness until it had already been said. However, upon closer inspection, you realized that you weren't necessarily wrong. He had more than his share of disfigurements, yet his blacked out eyes and missing teeth worked in mysterious ways. Staring back at you, was a blue haired beanpole with a bizarrely good looking face.
