Chapter Three

{Don’t Forget Me. Too Late}

“Do you have to go?” Ryan groans, her eyes wide. I nod sadly. My mom is going to be here soon.

“Yeah, my mom is going to be here soon and she’ll get grouchy.” I laugh half-heartedly, rolling my eyes at my mother’s impatient attitude. By now, everyone had left the party. A knock sounds at the door and I groan, knowing it’s my mom. I hurry to the door but someone else makes it there before I can.

                Liam.

“Hey, is Jenna here?” My mom asks as I throw myself at the door. Just by looking at Liam’s face, I know he recognizes her. Oh, aren’t you nice? You recognize my mom but not me. What a great friend…

“Jenna?” Liam squeaks out, looking at me.

“Thanks Mom.” I mutter under my breath, rolling my eyes and hurrying out the door. I grab my mom’s arm in the process, dragging her out the door. When we get in the car, she tries to talk but I just cut her off and turn the radio on instead.

I want you to hit the pedal

Show me you care

I change my mind quickly, turning the radio station to another channel.

People say we shouldn’t be together

Too young to know about forever

I give up, switching off the radio. Just my luck. They’ve taken over the damn radio stations.

“Jenna.” My mom coos, looking at me.

“Keep your eyes on the road.” I snap, shaking my head.

I wake up from my restless sleep to a ping every once in a while. I check my phone, thinking that I’m getting a call or text. No such luck. I check my laptop. Nothing. Another ping sounds and I look at the window just in time to see a rock hit the window. I try to look down but I can’t see well. Grabbing an empty can of soda, I sling the window open quickly and throw it down.

“WHAT THE FUCK?” An accent shouts and I smirk. I guess I hit him. I put my head out the window, looking down at Liam Payne.

“Watch your mouth, superstar.” I laugh, shaking my head.

“Can I come in?” Liam screams, rubbing the top of his head.

“Sure.” I holler back, closing the window. My outfit isn’t the cutest. I’m wearing a pair of old, ragged sweatpants that are a faded grey. A too tight tank top also and my hair is in a messy bun. I don’t give it a second thought though and jog out of my room, closing the door quietly. Taking two steps at a time, I manage to get downstairs. I can see Liam’s figure at the door. I slow to a walk, gliding to the door. Flinging it open, Liam hurries in without an invitation.

“I’m sorry I didn’t notice. I’m sorry that I was stupid. I’m sorry that I never called you after everything happened.” Liam rambles, sitting down on the couch. I sit across from him, keeping my distance.
