Aarde. A world of magic and normality, mountains and valleys, power and submission. A world divided among the four races, petty arguments preventing friendship. Aarde. Home to Vers, Geds, humans and fae.

Fae, or fairies, live in the beautiful hills of Goeie. They are sprites, the size of the average human, and they are peacemakers. They back down out of every argument and they never resort to violence. They insist that they heal and help only.
The land of Goeie is mystical. It is filled with rolling hills, a few trees and lakes, with almost no flat land for the fae to live on. The race may have magic at their fingertips but they are cowards and refuse to stand for themselves. A fairy may make a great companion and a great advisor but their time is not for war. They are helpless.
Fae live inside the hills of their homeland, building cities, towns and settlements hidden inside the strong earth around them. Fairies have often granted wishes, giving them a well-known place in mythology and a reason not to be wiped out during the Humanic Blitz.

The humans live in the land of Bose. They are strong and revered, yet they have no magic to their name, only alchemy and tinkering. Humans are brave and intelligent, but more impulsive than the other races. Bose has a picturesque landscape. There are no hills, only a few trees, but fields of fertile land are everywhere. The humans provide a lot of food to Goeie, as the hills prevent proper farming.
But humans are not known for that. They are known for the Humanic Blitz. A savage, ruthless purge of almost anything magical, for they deemed most magical beings to be unworthy. Many races are extinct, such as the gnomes, nymphs, merpeople, centaurs and, most famously, Grys. The 'Grey' elves.
Humans are savage and confident. Every one you meet considers killing you in spite. They are untrustworthy to all races but their own, despite the fact their racism died with the Grys.

Geds are often known as White elves. Unlike their twin race, they aren't magical. Instead, they spend all their time trying to look into the world around them, trying to learn everything they can. Geds were spared from the Humanic Blitz not just for their knowledge but for the ability to, unconsciously, predict the future. Whether small shots of a walk or a victor of an argument, they dream events and scenes. They warned the humans not to kill the Grys for they knew what would happen.
Their home is the mountainous territory of Gedagte. Inbetween the kingdom of fae and the kingdom of Vers, opposite the humans, Gedagte has practically nothing but tall mountains that scratch the sky. No matter which kingdom you are in, no matter how far, you can always see the mountains.
Water is gained from springs and leaks in the stone, the Geds living off berries and animals. But mountains isn't all that's there. Volcanoes are littered across the landscape, although most are dormant or inactive.
Geds all appear very similar. Tall, with greyish-red skin. Only psychics have blue eyes. Only psychics see the future in their sleep.

Verloor is just forests. There are no hills, no clearings. The only water is the streams hiding in the shadows. The trees block out the sky completely, leaving the forest in nothing but darkness, black and empty silence. Not even the most reckless of humans have dared to enter Verloor. And that's not just because of the atmosphere.
The residents don't welcome guests.
Vers, or Dark elves, are feared more than the humans because they're the only race with real magic. Not cantrips or party tricks like the fae, not weak, unpredictable fortune telling like the Geds. True magic. Dangerous magic.
Vers are rarely seen. Sometimes, if you're too close to their border, you'll see the sharp eyes watching you, but they never venture from their borders. The pictures in old books are all anyone has for a reference.
White skin, large, sharp eyes and pointed ears. Sharp fangs instead of teeth, markings across their neck and back and that's all people know. Vers are told to the young children of the other races as monsters. Savages. Brutes. Reserved. They are secretive and they do not trust you easily. If they do, they are loyal to the grave. Vers don't see the sunlight, their eyes are too sensitive. In fact, many rumours say Vers don't even leave the safety of Verloor.
However, despite the harsh words spoken about Verloor, Vers were the ones who ended the Humanic Blitz. The Queen of Vers, at the time, was furious when the last Gry was slaughtered in front of the very eyes of those who patrolled her borders. The Gry had nearly reached safety. He'd reached out to a guard. A crossbow bolt wedged its' way into his neck and he died, fingertips stretched over the border hopelessly.
The queen decided to take revenge. She released her draaks. Draaks are the pets of the Vers. To the human tongue, they are called dragons. They come in different shapes, sizes and strength. The draaks flew into the barricades of the human army and burnt them to the ground. That was why the Vers were allowed to live. They were too dangerous to cross. That was why the Humanic Blitz ended. The Vers had had enough.

Remus scoffed as his mother closed the book and his twin, Roman, rolled his eyes. Remus, the younger twin, got to his feet with a loud sigh. "Mother," He began. "These stories are stupid! We know this already. Besides, why do I have to learn? Roman's' the heir!"
The oldest son of Bose's' royalty gasped, jumping to his feet. "But, Remus, I need you there too! I don't wanna rule without you!"
"Ha, bullshit! You'd love the attention!" Remus replied, sticking out his tongue.
"Remus!" Gasped his mother, pulling back, offended. "You know I don't like that language used in this castle!"
Remus pouted. "Father swears..."
"Well, Father isn't fourteen, is he?"
Roman snorted. "He definitely doesn't look it!"
"Roman!" Their mother said sternly but she was obviously amused by her sons. She ruffled their hair, discarding the book. "How about we all go out for a ride soon? Father will be out of his meeting anytime soon."
The twins jumped around happily, nodding brightly and their mother laughed. She stood, guiding them out of the room, really hoping her husband would take care of them. She didn't feel too well.

Roman was kneeling in his bed, staring out of his window. His brother snored loudly behind him, but the young crown prince loved to serenade with the night sky as his view. His eyes were drawn over to the silhouettes of Verloor and Gedagte. The mountains blocked out the stars, leaving black, soulless triangles in the dark navy sky.
The forest was much softer, though. Roman couldn't see it very well because the trees were obviously smaller than the mountains and he was far away but that was why he kept a telescope under his bed. Roman sighed loudly, knowing he'd never see a Ver in his life. If only, though. He would bet anything that the Ver he met would fall in love with how amazing he was.
Roman smirked proudly to himself. She better be cute!
