"Help!" Percy cried as he rushed through the border of Camp Half-Blood. The sun was setting over Half-Blood Hill, but Percy was determined to find anyone who could help.

He knew the campers would most likely be at the campfire, but he ran towards the big house instead. Near the infirmary.

"Thank Gods, Austin!" Percy cried as he rushed into the infirmary.

Austin Lake, a son of Apollo, frowned and rushed over to him. "What happened?!"

He peered at Percy, who was holding a barely conscious Annabeth in his arms.

"Hellhound attack," Percy managed to get out. Austin instructed him to put Annabeth down on a bed, which he reluctantly did.

He examined her and frowned. "I'll go get some backup. Stay with her."

Percy grabbed Annabeth's hand, which was burning. "Gods, I'm so sorry. I....I can't believe this...."

Annabeth didn't reply.

Then Austin and several other members of the Apollo cabin which Percy didn't recognize rushed in. They ushered him out, much to his dismay.

Percy found himself outside the infirmary door, trying to stare through the oak doors.

This was his fault. All his fault. And it should be him inside the infirmary, not Annabeth. Never Annabeth.

"Percy," a familiar voice said, causing Percy to turn around. There stood Chiron in centaur form, a frown upon his face. "Are you alright?"

Am I alright?

"No," Percy answered honestly. "D-didn't you hear?"

Chiron nodded wearily. "Yes, I heard. Austin told me. I'm sure she'll be alright, Percy."

Percy shrugged. "I know, but this....it's my fault. It's my fault she's injured, my fault about the hellhounds—"

"Now, how is it your fault about the hellhounds?" Chiron interjected.

"I'm a child of the big three!" Percy said anxiously. "They probably smelled me, and couldn't resist, and...."

"You can blame yourself for a million different things," Chiron said. "But worrying won't help. All you can do now is try to stay calm for Annabeth."

Percy rubbed his temple. "I'm so sick of this all. I thought after we graduated things would be normal. I...I thought no more monsters, regular lives..."

Chiron sighed. "I know, Percy."

"But you don't!" Percy cried. "You don't know! I can't believe I let this happen, I'm such an idiot!"

"Percy—"

"I'm so stupid, gods, why can't I have a normal life?!" he practically screamed. "Why can't we just be left alone for once?"

"Perseus!"

Chiron's voice snapped Percy back into reality. He glared down at Percy, but his expression was still kind.

"Hyperventilating will not help," Chiron said shortly. "Now go sit down. I'll go fetch you some ambrosia."

"I don't need it," he replied weakly, the pain in his arm suddenly becoming very noticeable. "I'm fine."

Chiron nodded before galloping off. "I'm sure you are."

"And it's Percy not Perseus," Percy couldn't help but mumble once Chiron was already half way to the Big House.

Percy sat down on one of the creaky old benches in front of the infirmary. He carefully cradled his arm and his thoughts turned to Annabeth.

What happens if she dies?

He could barely bring himself to even think about the question on a normal day. But today was no normal day.

Do I move back to camp? What happens to her spirit? Will she come back?

Percy hated the idea of Annabeth dying that it almost made him physically ill. Instead of thinking he tried to focus on something else.

Try not thinking....that seems to work for me. After all, I am a seaweed brain.

Seaweed brain. Of course he thought of Annabeth's nickname for him. He couldn't stop thinking about her.

Chiron returned with a large glass full of ambrosia and watched until Percy half-heartedly drank it all.

"I told you I didn't need it," Percy said as he struggled to hold the glass up. "I'm okay."

"Well, you were injured, too, Percy," Chiron reminded him. He accepted the glass from him with no effort. "Try not to get too into your head."

Chiron left again, leaving Percy alone with his thoughts for the second time.

Before he got too deep into thinking, the infirmary doors swung open, revealing Austin.

Percy stood up quickly, which he instantly regretted as his head started pounding. "How is she?"

"Conscious," Austin replied. "She's stable, and should be alright."
