"Whoa! Hold up! You think that just because I showed up, we can go kill this... thing? I'm not some action movie superstar hero or anything! I'm just... Elias! Normal, puny Earthling! Are you crazy!?" Elias was flabbergasted. He was just snatched up out of his normal life, thrown into some other world, and then suddenly expected to be a superhero! What? Why couldn't he just have stayed at home and not get caught up in this whole mess? "Look, Glael, I literally just met you, you don't even know what I'm really like. And you think that I'm gonna save your world? Um, no! If you're so cool, then why don't you just open one of those magic portals and send me home? Has it occurred to you yet that I don't want to help you? I don't even know you! I-"
He was abruptly cut off by Glael, who clearly didn't agree. "Elias, I understand. You don't, apparently. There is a very good reason for all this, and you'll find out soon enough-"
"Heard that one before! That's the only answer I ever get! 'You don't understand, Elias' 'You'll find out later, Elias' 'There's a good reason, Elias'. When is this going to end!? Can I not just get a clear answer for once!?" Elias was clearly in rage, and Glael just stood back and watched. Eventually Elias tired and sat down, so Glael tried to talk to him.
"Elias, I'm sorry. I know that you're frustrated with me, and I understand. Too many people have lied to you, and my words offer you no comfort. However, I can tell you this. I have seldom been wrong, and I believe I am right in thinking that you are not ordinary. It may just take time for you to realize it. You seem especially strong of mind and wit, although a little weak in the physical area. You need to learn to trust your intuition and be able to fend for yourself. You are used to a rather cushy life, if what you told me about Earth is true. You don't know how to survive in the wild. These things I can assist you with, but overall it is you who will have to commit."
"Commit to what? I never agreed to anything! Just send me home!" Elias said.
"If you want to go back to Earth, then you have to help me." Glael responded. "If we don't take out the Collective, then we have no hope of getting you home. Are you in?"
"Alright, whatever it takes."
