Dear, Evan Hansen
Today is going to be an amazing day and here's why, because, I'm sure you'll find your soulmate. This year, senior year, you will find them, and you'll be happy. Because they'll be there to help you, to love you. Their going to be amazing, and talented, and even if they aren't, at least they'll be real. And that's all you really need right now. So, just look out for them-
Evan read what he had written so far and shook his head.
-but don't stare at people, then they'll think your weird, which you totally aren't! Even if it isn't Zoe Murphy, the girl you've had a crush on for years, and you really wish it was...there somewhere. I mean, why wouldn't you have one, I mean, everyone has one. Its not like almost all the kids at school have already found theirs and you haven't. You have to have one, because, you would be even more of an outcast without one. Anyways, your dearest and best friend,Me.
Evan hit save, a sigh exiting him. Why did he have to be so...awkward. Oh yeah, because he was the Evan Hansen, and he couldn't do anything right. Not anything new, is it? Just as he stuffed his head into one of his pillows, his mother walked in, looking over his awkward body at his laptop screen.
"Have you been writing those letters to yourself, today is going to be a good day and here's why?" She motioned to the open laptop. Evan suddenly yeeted his body up, shutting his laptop and sitting up in one swift movement. He felt embarrassed for some reason. Heat traveled up his neck and settled on his cheeks.
"YEAH! Just finished one actually!" He fanned his face as she grinned.
"Ok, those are good for you, they'll help build your confidence," she did a pair of jazz hands. After a moment she gave up at Evans face, it was completely red, but it was just unamused.
"I love you, sweetie, I've got a double shift today, so I'll be home late, I left 20 bucks on the counter, order something to eat please..." Evan looked down as she walked out.
Evan slings his backpack over his shoulder, walking out of his tiny room himself. He passed his mother leaving in the car, she waved him one final goodbye before leaving. He walked down the sidewalk, he didn't want to ride the bus because its a bloody hell full of rude kids and bitches who were trying way to hard...to many people, to much yelling, to much...everything. He'd be dead by the first day. He really couldn't drive since his mom used the car every morning and night. So, he walked. He stared at his shoe laces on his off brand Nike's, fidgeting with the petals on the flower that had overtaken his right eye since the first bud had blossomed. It was a deep blue rose. That he really wished had grown somewhere else, still, it could be worse. (WIGGLES EYEBROWS) In this circumstance, it would be terrible if it had grown on his arm. It would have been smashed by the cast currently covering the entirety of his left forearm. Everyone has one, a flower, not a cast. Once you reach 13, a bud grows somewhere on your body (WIGGLES EYEBROWS ONCE AGAIN) and fully blossoms at age 16. Only you and one other person have that specific flower, there are incidents where multiple people have the same flower, and those always get confusing, but there are very few cases of that happening.Anyways, it was just how things worked. His mother, Heidi, had a pink carnation on her right arm, but when his dad left for Colorado, it just sorta'...died. That's what happens when a true love is broken, or one of them dies, the flower dies with them. It was sad, but they were the only way to find your match. And easily. It wasn't like having initials tattooed on your wrist, at least you knew as soon as you saw the flower, instead of thinking that someone was, when they weren't. Like Zoe.
God, he wished it was her...but she has a purple orchid on her ankle. (It was why she never wore boots) because, of course she did, it was one of the most beautiful flowers, and it really suited her. She was beautiful. Her smile, sorta' subtle, and perfect, and real, was the only thing that got him through some days. At least, he was sure she'd be happy when she meets her soulmate. He pondered on who it might be as he walked to school.(787 words! Not to bad for a first chapter! Also, I write in 3rd person so...I hope its okay, I tried...god, I feel like Evan, anyways, I'll publish chapters as often as I can. If I can get 1 view, I'll be happy)
